4 day weeks have been a thing for quite a while
Maybe in the workforce but I have never seen schools do it. But in the workforce 2 hours were added to the day to get 40 hours for the week. I’m sure these lazy arse teachers won’t want to add anytime to the daily classroom schedule

The ideal school schedule should be 6 weeks from 8am to 1pm and from 1pm to 2pm is mandatory club or sport. Every kid must be in at least one.
After six weeks, they have 2 or 3 weeks off depending how the calendar falls. This goes on year round

They get fricking 3 months off in the Summer, and another month of Holidays during the school year. An 8 month work schedule, and now they need a 4 day week? How fragile are these people? What they really need is year round school, and for teachers to have to pass a bi-yearly competence exam.... pass or be fired. PERIOD.
The kids they are graduating can't read or do basic math... What a bunch of lazy, ineffective, whiners. Work year round like the rest of us, and do your damn jobs.
Pretty ignorant take. While teachers may not technically be at school during the summer or holidays they also are not getting paid for those days off. Most ,at least in Texas, have just agreed to have their salaries spread over a 12 month period. Teacher already passed a competency test much like you passed a drivers test. Instead of bitching about something you obviously know little about how about you get more involved in your local school district. Run for school board. Lobby your legislature to get rid of state testing. Make a positive change rather than run your mouth and look like an ignorant frick.

The work week should only be 4 days. American workers are cucked beyond belief.

work will eventually follow suit. i agree with it. 4 day work week would be better

so it’s the schedules fault? not the parents, not teachers, not bloated school administration positions, or shite curriculum. it’s the schedule holding them back
Yes. Yes. We can only blame one thing.
Couldn't possibly be a combination.

It just pissed me off that the teachers claimed to be the poor victims here for having to work a normal 5 day week. Boo fricking hoo
You should teach for a year.

fricking retarded. Young children need more sleep than they’re getting already. Schools already start too early. This would exacerbate both issues.

It is a shame that everyone will preach family values/being involved with kids/etc, then turn around and say no flexibility to allow parents to do this when it comes to being a worker drone.

Dude you are free to work 150 hours a week 7 days a week, like I did for years making my a-hole bosses rich beyond their dreams for scraps at the table. No one is stopping you so why do u care what someone else does or doesn’t do take it from your elder.
Someone is always going to be better looking, have a nicer, house, boat, truck, wife, bank account etc. Always and forever. If you let that shite determine your life and your happiness you are going to be a miserable mfer

They’ve been doing it in Texas since I was a child. I’m now 36

You are a fricking idiot beyond belief!!
My wife teaches, my kids are in public school. They went to 4 days a few years ago. Zero issues in the community. Most holidays are on a Monday (which they have off) and if not doctors/dentists appointments are scheduled for this day. Attendance has improved dramatically and teachers from surrounding parishes have come in to fill vacant positions.
They end the last day in May and start August 4. In between there is workshops, camps, and other extracurricular activities that keep my wife and kids busy for those few months.
You truly are a miserable frick and I hope you don’t have a family that sits on their arse all day!

the teachers getting defensive in this thread need to relax and get a little perspective.
unfortunately this is the face of the US teachers.
you may not be a member of the AFT, but this person is the one person making the most noise and giving your profession a bad name.
she represents nearly half of you. vote her out. get your peers to stop posting tik tok videos.
it isn't that the people have a bad perception of teachers. your co-workers are giving you a black eye.

How did that work in the presidential election? Biden represents you. Just vote him out?

my advice is the same. if someone from outside of the US thought everyone was a child sniffing, daughter showering, imbecilic, i could understand why.

Dear Nega-Teachers:
Please stop bitching about your job. You all are making the rest of us look bad. If you can't handle it then quit.

Merryville, LA started doing this in like 2002 and hasn't gone back to a 5 day week yet haha

Teachers tried to get this in my town and parents raised so much heck the school board opted to stick with the 5 day.
Actually the teachers wanted a schedule that was year round and led to week vacations once a month. They tried to sneak that one in first.

Sounds like your wife fricked your boss behind your back. So sorry to hear that happened to you

My kids went to non traditional schedule. Only 6 weeks of summer. A week off almost every month. Was great for our family at that time. Would have been all for four day weeks. Not sure how parents that both work would deal with that though.
