Iconic coaches covering for assistants with a huge appetite for little boys at Penn State makes all of Penn seem creepy.

I'd tear into the coaches arse for trying to turn my son into a disrespectful little prick. IF my kids ever did such a thing, they'd have hell to pay. This to me is not a joke, taken lightly, or looked passed.

No problems with that. My 9 year old stands and places his hand over his heart when they play the National Anthem on TV.

What if you kids coach tells them to kneel during the National Anthem?

I will do my best to get him fired. He and others can do what they want, but he as no right to instruct his players to make a political statement

Get to the game late and skip it all together. Seems like an easy fix.

I'd be pretty pissed if a coach used my child to try to make a political statement. That's way outside of what I consider appropriate.

go out on the field and make the coach kneel for other reasons.

Serious question,
Is hearing the national anthem or pledge that common in youth sports? I don't remember hearing it for basketball or baseball.
I know we had it for high school football.

Depending on the kids should be allowed to express their individual beliefs within the guidelines their coach has set for them. No coach that would require them to kneel would be employed very long but if the coach allowed it, I would encourage my child to express themselves as they see fit but do my best to teach them the impact of their actions and possible repercussions.
My child is 6, so she'll do whatever I tell her. But, in high school I expect I will give her more freedom than I do now.

no coach would last until breakfast if they did that.
they would be hounded to resign.
its an individual decision and I don't want to see children doing it.

They'd have stood up for the anthem in spite of the misguided and low-class instruction.
The Füts would understand that a sports coach is not there to coach political views.

My kids grew up under active duty military. They know what is considered proper protocol for the national anthem. I'm also the a-hole that will tell other kids at the ballpark to stand still and be quiet during the anthem.

Just try it tough guy. You tell my kid to stand and I'll wait til after the game and sneak up behind you in the parking lot.

Both me and my boys are MUCH older now, but back when they were playing, I would always tell them I don't care if you make it to the NFL or MLB, you do something on the field that embarrasses me, I am going to come down to the field and kick your arse in front of 70,000 people and whoever is watching on TV. But, then again, I am white
