That old boy may have enjoyed an afternoon crawfish boil a much as you enjoy trip to Scotland. Folks are different. I have traveled so much for work that to be honest a good cook out with friends and family beats the shite out of going to Europe again and any trip that does not involve billfish is a trip I am going to try to get out of...folks enjoy life in different ways. Now if old boy was complaining about being bored thats one thing but just because something isn't for everyone does not mean those who don't care for it are missing out...

I love a good crawfish boil. I mean that's my favorite food I've done 100 of them though. I understand that someone would rather sit around and do nothing instead of traveling if that's not you thing. I don't understand though how someone doesn't get that certain people like to spend money on traveling all over to see beautiful and fun places. Even if I didn't travel a lot (which is me and the wifeys favorite thing to do), I'm not going to hate on other people for doing it.

I'm retired but I didn't want to be. The good Lord had other plans for me. I grow and raise orchids. I grew orchids for over thirty years and I still do it. When I get them to bloom, that's a big achievement for me. I'm currently dealing with my health. I have cirrhosis of the liver and there is nobody to blame but me. I was never a drunk that would go out in public while being drunk. I would just drink off and on. I never craved alcohol like some do and for the most part I would drink occasionally especially at a party. I was definitely sober more than I was drunk. I may not be here much longer but I enjoyed my life for the most part. I look at my orchid plants every day and I have a few that are currently blooming. Growing orchids is a hobby that I discovered many years ago.

Haven’t trained in months. Been doing it for years but serious lack of motivation lately. That and fishing were my go to’s but been in such a funk neither seem fun right now.

I fly a high end drone FPV(First person view). It's awesome. You actually feel as though you are in the drone while it's up in the air and you just go whatever direction you want to and see whatever. You wear goggles and see what the drone's camera sees. I also have a model railroad that I work on in the winter. I also work on side by sides and ATV'S for people. I'm retired and I really like working on these things.

I haven't ridden in about 5 years, but this was not my experience, haha. It was a money pit. Always wanted new wheels, the latest bike (to add, not replace), new power meter, upgraded components, etc..

While I do enjoy the latest stuff I am also a huge fan of riding vintage bikes. I am 80% roadie and have 3 Colnago Master X light frames all with period Campy groupsets one with a C Record groupset with Delta brakes, the most beautiful groupset Campy ever made. But my newest project is a MTB. I am partial to 26" hardtails that we raced in the 90s.

I just finished building the wheels. They are all period correct NOS. Chris King hubs, Mavic SUP X517 Citron Rims with DT double butted spokes and blue Al nipples.

My current shop monkey got in this picture!

The frame is a 1997 Rocky Mountain Team Only Vertex Limited built from Easton HBO Elite Tubing (hand welded) with the Canadian maple leaf fade paint. I have a full XTR NOS group with Race Face, Syncros, Nuke Proof, Chris King, Salsa and Selle Italia parts. I have a brand new (but I had to rebuild it) Rock Shox SID Air Fork. The whole rig will be under 18 pounds when I get her finished. The only thing not vintage will be tires, tubes and cables.

This bike would have been a UCI World Championship-worthy steed 26 years ago. She will be fast as hell on groomed singletrack today.

Im struggling to find fun things to do on my own. What do you guys do for fun by yourself?

Several things go into hobbies. What's your about age? Physical condition or limitations? Location? Amount of time & money you look to spend? What are you looking for? To just unplug and relax? To challenge yourself physically? To challenge yourself mentally?
It's good to find a hobby you can enjoy by yourself, but do you mean that as in just without the wife & kids or truly by yourself?
As one poster mentioned getting a hobby with health benefits is a plus!
I live in Prairieville and I'm late 30s and in so-so shape, but have always been a bit fat at 5'10" and about 260 but the last few months I've focused on eating better and going to the gym and have been able to lose 20lbs. The gym is considered a hobby by most, and it definitely takes time of your day & week, but I am choosing to look at it as a NEED and not a hobby, for health purposes.
I picked up golf as a hobby in my early 30s. It's a way to meet up with some of my buddies, as well as meet new people. I get a ton of steps in a round (this happens when you suck and your dispersion is all over the place lol), and since golf is the toughest fricking sport I've ever played it gives me something to work on to get better every single round to keep me striving to improve. It does take up time though and can easily be very expensive but it can also get by "fairly" cheap if you need it to be.
Learning a new language is challenging mentally and can be fun. I grew up in a small cajun town where my grandparents and dad and other relatives spoke cajun french so I Know several things but never picked it up to be fluent. Cajun French is dying so I recently bought a book to help learn and plan to continue to get audio books/lessons as well as talk with my dad and one grandparent that is still living.
Looking to just unplug for an hour or two on occasion? I still have a PS4, never was a real "gamer" and never played online. Only have a handful of games and they are all at least 2 years old at this point, but on occasion I go into our office by myself, possibly with a bourbon, and just whip the computer's arse in madden or UFC or Call of Duty as a way to relax.
I've been experimenting with cooking the last year also. This has mostly not been very healthy lol. Started smoking meats, now venturing into baking which I have never done, and looking into making more dishes from scratch
