LSU’s remote study policies during the pandemic which kept students back at home, coupled with higher prices for goods really did a number on them.

Just kidding.

The Mellow Mushroom at 4250 Burbank Drive posted signs announcing its Wednesday karaoke nights were “canceled indefinitely.” The announcement came after last week’s karaoke night ended in chaos when patrons gathered in the parking lot panicked after hearing shots fired nearby.

At least two men in the riled-up crowd climbed on top of the woman’s red car and were jumping up and down on the car’s hood and trunk. Baton Rouge Police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola confirmed the woman was attacked while attempting to leave the venue and said the young woman was detained and later released. Officers are actively trying to identify the individuals who assaulted her and damaged her vehicle.

While section 8 helps some, it also brings in dangerous types.

I wouldn't say anything happened.

Mellow Mushroom corporate starting downsizing and cutting franchises. They closed a lot of stores around the country. Izzos and Nine Dragon are still there and going strong. And that stretch of Nicholson you mentioned has always been a revolving door of businesses.

If Lee/Ben Hur is considered close to campus then there are dozens of new businesses and restaurants in the by the Rouses.

There's also the new places on campus near Mathernes.

Pink Agave and a daiquiri shop just opened at the South gate towers too.

Mellow Mushroom?
When I was in school, that was the original Mike Anderson's.

No different location. First MA’s was at Highland and LSU Ave. Kind of , sort of where the gas station is today.

I hate government intervention but they shouldn’t allow section 8 housing near the freaking university like they are.

But the university is a place of learning, and the government wants the students to learn about getting mugged

I feel like there's a Mellow Mushroom on every college campus. First discovered them in Boone NC at App State. Not long after we got one at UK.

It was started in midtown Atlanta by a hippie from Fairburn. It was in an old DQ with no inside seating. The pizza was good and he found college campuses to be lucrative.

No. As said above, Mike Anderson’s was in the old College Town Grocery building, closer to the South Gates. That gas station (or some iteration) was there at the same time. It really was a cool spot when it was in that building. When I was at LSU, Friday night dinner during the season was a dozen raw, an order of onion rings and a pitcher of beer. That with a tip was <$10.

Same thing that happened to the North Gates. Undesirable population changes.

Development shifted down to Lee and Burbank (and even farther down Burbank) to where the students are living now.

Sounds like a scene out of Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Because of cheap rent it attracts a crowd of residents who are skilled at turning neighborhoods in food deserts

don’t get what you’re saying but the the lower dregs of society live not only north of campus, but also near tiger land like we already knew and now the last 5-10 years all up in those complexes on Ben Hur. It’s turning the area around LSU into shite
