Sounds like there’s plenty of worse the kid could have said then.

But then again, I haven’t looked through your post history so who knows

A nice, long shower after a hard day's work outside where you get everything done that you set out to do.

And a good dump.

Boy is that an understatement.

Man its taken me awhile to come to terms w that and still really not there. Am sole provider and work a really stressful job...come home and jump right into toddler town, pay every bill in and out the house...can count on one hand the times my wife has acknowledged my effort and contribution there...still get looked at cross when wanting to just sit and relax on weekends sometimes. Was a particularly tough year and while I got some gifts didnt even get a card saying thanks or anything for father's day... that one stung a little. The school i pay tuition to will only text my wife with updates even when I drop off and say I'm picking up....also had to leave 3 suggestions for them to finally do "donuts w dad" this year... last year didnt have shite for us despite grandparents day and muffins with mom

Anyway... fatherhood really is knowing you're making an impact and knowing noones gonna notice or care unless you dont and pushing through...still worth it

Free time to hike in nature. Reading. Smoking bud and driving around exploring the Colorado mountains with friends 2-3 times a year. Watching LSU football with my aging parents when life permits. Watching my son create art that really inspires him. A good night’s sleep. Camping in the mountains. After reading the thread, yeah shitposting.

My youngest is 6 so I'm a few years past that stage but is that a thing now to count the number of words your kid says before 2?

No, this was purely something I was curious about. The age and number of words is completely arbitrary.

Like I mentioned, it was just something cool (for me) as a proud dad when she started talking that then kept going as a fun thing (for me )

To be honest, it actually helped us learn more words cause it became a sort of competition with ourselves and I just set the age at 2 (mostly because it IS pretty weird to keep up a list of words and I don’t want to do it anymore )

That is an open-ended question. Most will say children. A peek in to the future, with your genes and leadership.

For me, no children, it was finding God again and being grateful for every moment. After a tumultuous year of losing my Mom, Aunt & boss within 2.5 months, accepting a great job, I have leaned heavily on my husband, while being joyful.

No one thing can do it, no hobby, no football game, no place in time. Just peaceful acceptance.

Our time here is short. Live and love with all of your heart.

Later in life I have found that nothing makes me feel better than serving others without compensation. I love reading to children, taking the sick to their medical appointments, cooking meals for people who can't do for themselves.

Ultimately we are here to figure out if we’re wired to serve our own ego and desires (service to self) or if we can elevate ourselves to find fulfillment in helping others.

As someone who has known a number of very high net worth people who have chased the “more stuff” game I can tell you that even with lots of resources, chasing that path without at least balance towards something more substantive rarely leads to positive outcomes.

Listening to a 70 year old bitch about how miserable they are because their neighbor just got a nicer Porsche as they sit in an empty 12k foot house is pretty sad.

My children

Glad you're so specific.

Cooking for my kids is it. I do all of the work, and I just get to watch them enjoy it. Anticipating my son's request for Oleoestepa Hojiblanca for his pasta before he asks, grating a metric ton of fresh parm for my daughter before she asks, etc. Hearing them shut up as they just devour whatever I've cooked.

No feeling at work can provide the same fulfillment, although being told I can abuse an outsourcer on behalf of a client comes close.

Being in helpful and loving service to others in their time(s) of need.

It’s why I became a Registered Nurse, and work on the floor.

If I won the Powerball, I’d continue to work.

Yep. Started out as something funny to do and then she just kept saying more so I took it as a challenge on her behalf to see how many she can get before age 2.

I’ll drop “the list” once she comes of age (2)

I think thats cool and something she will find interesting as she grows up.

Especially if you have timestamps of when each word was said. The nerd in me would find it interesting to see the count of new words per day/week plotted on a line chart.

It is fulfilling to read this entire thread and see that nobody answered “watching (insert college football team) win”. Fully expected to see that and would have been puke-inducing

That would be cool given that language is an exponential learning skill.

I kept them in a Google Sheet, so I’m sure there’s timestamps for sure.

I will see if my nerdiness and laziness can fight it out and I’ll let you know which one wins
