Others have mentioned Art Deco and I do like that style. It works well on large projects---high rises, office buildings, clubs, etc. but I don't see it as a great alternative for building houses.
For house building architecture, I like the old "Craftsman" style homes. Wide range of trims on the outside, wood floors, nice moldings on the interior in baseboards, crown molding, door trims, real solid wood doors, etc.

never heard of this style, but after looking it up, I do agree. Kind of reminds me of something that you would see in the former USSR. Unfortunately, I am afraid that is the direction we are currently headed.

I love the whole Mid-Century Modern movement and would probably say it is my favorite, especially with regard to commercial architecture, and I've seen several new buildings in my city with heavy MCM influence.
I would describe my house as an American Foursquare which I guess would be Craftsman or Arts and Crafts style (I'm not enough of an expert to know if the terms are interchangeable or not), and it is also very high on my list. The construction of my 85 year-old house is amazing, and the neighborhood in which I live has a number of excellent examples of this style.

Those old, beautiful architectural buildings were easy when you had free labor. I am more impressed with post 50s construction and design.

I wouldn't consider that architecture. I have listened to a few post cast on Russia, and post war, they had a major infrastructure issue. Not to mention a shortage of cash. So they built buildings that met minimum requirements. It was never intended to be pleasing to the eye.

For some reason I always liked Googie type architecture.
Mostly I like 50's and 60's type stuff.
Mid Century Modern
Example: the TWA terminal. Whatever that's called I think it's beautiful.
I've always like the Capitol Records building, too.
I bet all of those old, un-conventional building cost a small fortune to maintain.
