We had to run 300s in under 35 seconds with about a minute rest in between runs.
Did y'all make the Olympics?

Cross country running in gym class.

Not necessarily exercise, but penis inspection day was one I always hated.

The old, coach is too hungover to deal with everyone class. If they had a classroom for all the students, it would have been time to roll out the movie cart

If you said 45 seconds I’d 100% believe you
yeah I just did the math on that and everyone on his HS basketball team should have swept the state 400m

lining up in a gym with 100+ other HS boys and all having to drop your pants and the doc going down the line to make everyone cough was the worst day of the year every year

That’s an under 12 second 100m for 300 meters. I know under 12 second 100m isn’t elite but it’s pretty damn fast. And to run it for 300m is elite.
Not saying it can’t be done, but a basketball team isn’t achieving that 6 times in a row with 1 minute rest.

Seal crawl.
During the first 2 week of school my sophomore year, apparently we had some of our guys who were sagging in school, as well as refusing to tuck their shirt in. Our coach got word of this. Instead of punishing those guys, he used this as opportunity to teach the entire team a lesson.
Before practice, he made the entire team seal crawl the entire football field, down and back. Pure. Absolute. fricking. Torture.
I literally had fricking blisters. Half the team had blisters all on their palms. At one point in practice that week, both my blisters had popped open during practice, so here I am bleeding from both hands. Coach was so kind, he let me take about 4 minutes to get it wrapped up on the sideline before coming back in.
On one of my hands, I can still see the outline from where my skin was literally hanging off of my hand.
That shite had to be illegal surely.

Wait y’all actually had physicals in a communal room?
Our physicals were one on one with a doc in a classroom with a teacher present to make sure no funny business happened. We waited outside the classroom together but only the Doc saw your twig and berries.

our coaches liked being efficient, I guess

For basketball we would run suicides BUT down in a defensive stance, like you were guarding someone, and side shuffle without crossing our feet while on a timer. It was miserable, and your legs felt like jello afterwards.

This is another nightmare I'm about to relive. Great.
Except we did our pyramids differently.
1x1600
2x800
3x400
4x200
5x100
This was our daily warmup before our summer workouts. After we'd get done with this. We'd still have over an hours worth of practice left to do.

Board drills. Get at either end of a 2x4 and try to drive the other guy off of it.
Get ten yards apart, one guy is the defender and one guy is the ball carrier. Tackle full speed .
Bull in the ring. One guy in the middle, everybody else in a big circle around him. Coach calls a number and that guy goes after the guy in the middle. You don't know which direction he's coming from.
I never minded the conditioning drills that much. They were unpleasant but they didn't hurt like the other stuff.
I pretty much hated football while I was doing it, but I would do anything to escape being pigeonholed in the nerd category. I really had no business being out there but I was persistent and by the time I was a senior I had worked my way up to playing a little bit.

I can't remember what they were called but usually did them when you are your team was in trouble for something. We would line up on the goal line in full pads and the coach would blow the whistle and everybody would sprint to the other goal line and when the coach blew his whistle again you had to hit the ground. Rinse repeat until the coach just got tired of blowing his whistle.

Suicides, but instead of sprinting, with lunges. And if someone didn't finish on time or do the lunges correctly, everyone has to do them all over again

Practice of what? Jesus this has to be a cross country routine because no other sport would require 3.5 miles of running BEFORE a practice.

Suicides after a long practice were awful. Double suicides, when the coach was feeling like a psychopath, were murder.
