Growing up, I remember seeing so many of them but I can't remember the last time I've seen one in south Louisiana.

How often are you digging your fingers into the dirt?

Growing up, you did that a lot.

They’re like Japanese beetles. You think they’re gone until they show up and then you fight like hell to get rid of them.

You grew up and stopped paying attention

Your childlike wonder disappeared along with your belief in santa clause and you just stopped believing in them, but they are there if you look

Their primary food source was the white, chalky dog poop. Once the food source disappeared, the roly-poly disappeared.

There were hundreds of them in my neighborhood gym after all that rain we got a few weeks ago.

Yea, also what happened to the armadillos?
I used to see so many dead ones on the side of the road.

I can let you borrow my son for a few hours and he will find all of them in your yard. He's a roly-poly hunting machine.

Funny you ask but I came home the other night and literally found more on my back patio than I have in past 20 years. Woke up the next am to go and spray d/t the sheer number but they were completely gone. Really weird...

Reminds me of Merle Haggard’s song….
“Roly-poly …daddy’s little fatty.”
