Ice House ftw.

Yep. Back before high ABV craft beers were a thing.

My freshman year of college it was a weds night tradition to get a 12 pack of Ice House for $5.99 and 2 $0.99 whoppers for dinner

8 bucks and a hell of night.

Somehow I’d make to class on Thursday

Thursday was Mickey’s 64oz night

Milwaukee Best Light was $9.99 case in 1994. My friend and I swore that it tasted the exact same as Miller Lite and would argue with anyone thatnit was the same beer in a different packaging. No clue if we were correct.

How’s your eyesight?

I think *the beast* was just Miller Lite in a no-brand label.
I was told years ago that the budget beers were the barrel scrapings of the name brands that didn't quite meet the quality control standards for taste. I think Milwaukee's Best was Miller, Busch was Budweiser, and Keystone was Coors. Not sure if it's true, but it would make sense.

Ah, the Beast... good memories from my days in the 80's

A couple observations- it was generally nasty, but about a 6-pack in you didn't care.

Also- a buddy and I got a keg of it from Katering Kegs over off Gardere once. I have to say, iced down and in draft form, it was significantly better than in can form.

Something that was both shocking and endearing... I have relatives in upstate NY. On a visit there, I caught a Sabres (NHL Hockey) match. Milwaukee's Best was actually a big sponsor, they had giant Unleash The Beast signs in the arena. This was when they had Dominik Hasek at goalie, early 90's. I was amazed both that they would spend that money, and that a big-league sports franchise would "stoop" to displaying that brand. But it also made me love the NHL.

I looked, but can't find an image. Here's a couple other teams with beer ads, Labatt's Blue

The Beast

I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on a party ball of Bud Ice.
