What does the used mid-size suv/ crossover market look like right now? Recommendations?

Have minivan, love it, paid off, great.
But family needs dictate we get another vehicle. We haul the whole gang in the van but as the older ones grow they are going or gone, off to work, off to military.
So need another daily driver for a short commute and for when we need to go different places.
Looking at Rav4, CRV, outlander. Something with 5 seats and some storage pretty much. Where 3-4 people can take a weekend trip comfortably, or just back and forth to school and whatnot.
On a budget, so nothing new. What are some recommendations for a good used vehicle? Had a Corolla before and didn't care for it. Too small and too low and cramped.
Had a Camry long ago that I loved but other than that sedans haven't thrilled me, but I'm open to other opinions.
Had a Highlander and loved it but doubt I can find one for under 20k with decent mileage .Don't need a personal truck, too expensive anyway.
Just something simple, effective, reliable and lower mileage. Probably from mid to late teens.
TIA

Just bought my second Hyundai Santa Fe and I can’t recommend it enough.

We have a Ford Explorer for the last three years and it has a good amount of room when all three of the kids are in it. We like it enough for what we need it for.

Get a Subaru outback, change your diet to eat only quinoa, and renew your NPR subscription ...

I have had two friends really rave aboutthe Santa Fe also.
My family has rav4s and CRVs and I would not hesitate to buy either.

With your budget, look at Nissan Rogue.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I found a 15 Mitsubishi Outlander with about 13,000 miles on it for a reasonable price but I don't know anything about them

Daughter has a RAV4. It holds its value well but it doesn’t have as much space as my Santa Fe and I’m not sure he’ll get below $20k with low mileage.

if you can find a used rav4 within your budget, get it. those things are immortal. they're just barely cooler than a minivan, but they get good gas mileage, are fairly nimble in traffic when in sport mode, and just keep running like Toyotas do.

I mean...20 is just the number I have in my head. If it wiggles over, I'll deal.
If I can make it wiggle under I'm doing my damnedest. Was counting on a big raise and bonus they told us was coming and received a kick in the Dick instead so...yeah.
Working with what I've got.

Try the 2018 Rav 4, then.

So insanely cool? I can go from hauling 8 people to having it ready to load with camping gear in about 2 minutes. That's cool to me.
I want safe. I'm getting older now. I don't need speed, don't need style, and I'll have teenagers driving before I know it.
To me, safe is sexy.
Want something I will feel comfortable with them driving eventually, but a good, functional family vehicle.

i hit a deer in college station this June and was without my work car for 3 months. for 2 of those months, i had a nissan rogue and really enjoyed it TBH, and i usually hate nissans.
i was actually kinda sad to go back to my escape.
i wouldn't choose it over a santa fe, telluride, pallisade, bronco, etc. but there are worse options.

A vehicle is a tool. Who cares if its "cool"?

I recently got an Odyssey, and I love it. Nothing better with multiple young children, and I actually like the look of it. Mine is just like this
Calling around to some places just to ask about options and the guy starts telling me about A sienna. And I say not looking for that...but tell me about it anyway.
Minivan just has so much room and so comfy to ride in, especially the captains chairs. I love letting someone else drive and sitting in the back. Feel like an executive.

Careful with Subarus - apparently they require you to come to a full stop prior to making any turn

I’m currently driving a RAV4 rental. It’s a nice a vehicle. And being that’s it’s a Toyota it’s well worth the money and will last a long time.

I bought a used 2022 Pilot.
