Romance Novelist, makes at least upper 6, if not low 7, figures per year. We've never actually discussed it in specifics, just related to sales and contracts with publishers in general ballpark terms.
She lives out her fantasy Classic Southern Belle dreams of pastel colored hoop skirts, porch swings, mint juleps. She really enjoys her make believe life that she was able to create with her imaginative writing.

Married into it. Every single one of them.
Making it on your own often requires years and years of tireless, unappreciated, unglamorous effort and sacrifice. This combined with a patience for delayed gratification in a social media driven world are the kiss of death for most people, but especially women.
I am sure there are exceptions to the rule, but I will stick with the probabilities I have seen through a few years of living.

We have a friend who live in San Jose and built a company that does electronics compliance work for other countries. Most countries require all sorts of testing of electronics before they can be sold in the country, FCC for the US, CE for Europe and IC for Canada. Her company works with a lot of electronics companies to get them through the red tape and testing required by a lot of the smaller countries.
I have no idea what she makes but she hired one of my good friends about 10 years ago when they got engaged for $500k a year, he was making $325k at Cisco which is where they met when her company was doing work for Cisco. They live in a 7,000 sq ft house in Los Gatos that was easily 5 million to build 8 years ago.
I suppose I "know" more wealthy self-made women but this is the wealthiest I know well enough to show up with my suitcase unannounced and be welcomed into their home.

Knew a lady in Texas that started a cleaning company. She was one my recruiting company's clients. Cleaned offices for about a decade and then got into crime scene, suicide, hoader, and drug den cleanups and started making bank. She told me her business makes over $1,000,000 AFTER expenses.

What do you mean by "self-made'? My cousin makes bank, and has been with the same company her entire career(she's 41), but her dad pulled some strings to get her the job after paying her way through Northwestern Univ. She makes around $400k per year I'd guess.
Where does she live? Just wondering?

Women tend to do well in law, especially certain areas of it. I know locally there are quite a few solo offices run by women that handle a lot of divorce cases. Family law in particular is an area that a lot of women are doing really well. The best ones are easily making 250-500k, likely more.
There's also a female attorney in NJ who does criminal law (Remi Spencer, she used to be on Fox a lot) who may actually be making high six figures close to seven.
Some of them do well in real estate too though that's really feast or famine.
Obviously the income numbers are just guesses too, it's not like I'm looking at their tax returns.
