A guy who works the model train department there is a member of our model RR club. Not a bad store, but overpriced IMO.
Their model selection is fantastic though.

Have never been outside of the airport but want to check out the aquarium and coke museum but not sure if that warrants a standalone visit.

Yes, worth it. One of the best if not the best in the country.

Hell no, unless you like being stuffed into a giant, tacky Coke ad with 300 smelly foreigner tourists, and contracting type 2 diabetes on top of it.

If you are a Sants or LSU fan you hate Atlanta with a passion. It’s always been like this on this website.
I live here and love Atlanta. It’s a great city (and I don’t just mean Atlanta proper - I am talking about all of the great suburbs which makes up the Atlanta area

It would be a fine place to live, especially with a good group of family/friends in the area. Other than that, don't need to visit and it wouldn't be high on my list of places to randomly move to. Seems kind of like black Dallas.

Every city has some kind of food or culture they are proud of. When you think of Atlanta and their culture, what do you think of?
That should answer your question.

My wife and I moved to Atlanta after graduating from LSU. It was a huge (lack of) culture adjustment. Biggest cons for us- being away from friends/family, good food/music/ppl, no comparison in fishing and hunting, chitty traffic, and chittier sports teams. Pros- four full seasons (spring/falls are esp beautiful), mountains nearby, airport rocks, public schools are amazing, and business/employment opportunities are abundant.
After 25 yes we’re now entering “soft” retirement and moving to the coast.
While Louisiana will always be home, overall time spent in the Atlanta area was positive.

You probably woudn’t live in Atlanta proper anyway but in one of the Northern subs.
This. SS, Marietta, Roswell, Alpharetta, and on up/west is likely where you'd be.

I actually like the older neighborhoods there east and north of Midtown.
I suppose there are public school hurdles in those places, but they all seem to be perfectly charming otherwise.

I lived in Georgia for 5 years and I enjoyed my time there as a sports fan since they have a team for damn near every sport. Braves were pretty good in those days (96-01)

I've been. Didn't spend much time, it was a stop there while traveling through it. Is there a mid town in Savannah? It seems like I remember that and maybe seeing a gulf course, but I think where I went was probably where tourist or people passing though was likely most likely to go, so I didn't really get to grasp of the local population, but they have attractive black women?
As for as ATL, it just seems like every time (two or three times.. Thinking about it, it might have been twice) I go to ATL I have seen a lot of professional types, many were black and they were dressed professional and seemed to be well put together.
Just to be clear, I am not saying that was the case with every black woman I saw, but it was more than you would see in... Baton Rouge, New Orleans, etc.
And I don't know if they represent the population in the area, but I once stopped off at a Burger King .. Or maybe McDonalds in Auburn, Alabama and I ended up talking to this black guy who was sitting at a table next to us.. I don't even know if he was from there, but he was the most country son of a bitch I ever met. I just remember him leaving and saying "yall take care now, alright?" and he wore overalls. And he drove a diesel truck, but I am not sure why mentioned that, it has nothing to do with what we are talking about,

Atlanta has a lot of charming neighborhoods, but outside of Buckhead you're just going to deal with a lot of insufferable people in them especially if you're conservative/traditional/family minded.
I've lived in a couple (in Buckhead and midtown-ish) and enjoyed my time there, but I wouldn't want to raise my family there. In addition to the people, you've got more exposure to crime and just the increased hassles of denser, city life vs. Buckhead/SS (and decreasing further as you get into the burbs)

Atlanta has the largest black middle class in the world by 100 miles, so it would be natural

I'm used to being the political oddball where I live. It's not something that really bothers me too much.

Nah, a lot of young people absolutely want to live in Atlanta, Houston, whatever bumping big city.
They want to be able to walk to a local gay bar and a couple shops to get their lattes.
