To me it isn’t a reflection of America’s previous actions but a reflection of what America’s supposed to be. A land where your lot in life is determined by your effort and your own skill and your own ambition.

Imagine if this were actually true. What a dream that would be.

Yep, white kids from trailer parks get discriminated against in favor of children of any sort of black person, no matter how rich, because of "affirmative" action and NOBODY in any sort of position of authority utters one word about it.

It means a land of opportunity, with limitless paths to that opportunity, where everyone’s opinion can not only be stated, but respected and encouraged. Where all men are not only created equal, but have a God-given right to be treated as such.
Where you can actually be outraged at an injustice while still supporting those who help to keep peace - whether police or military. Where there exists bad people within every race and profession. But the great and honorable people outweigh the bad to the degree that I would die for this country because it’s still the best there is in this world.

Determination, courage and grit by men (black and white)who we couldn’t hold their jock strap today standing up against the most powerful nation in the world and keeping old glory flying whilst winning battles to secure freedom. God we have weak men today.

The song and the flag are symbols of the Constitution. Too many people hold the symbols more dear that what they represent. We must revere the Constitution, not its symbols.

Really doesn't mean shite to me.

To be perfectly honest, not much. Typically it’s just something we have to get through before a sporting event can be played.

A thing before a sporting event where I have to take my hat off

Same. It’s stunning to me that bad songs and flags deserve so much respect.

To me, it means its the national anthem. It was never meant to mean perfection, just adherence to the values it seeks to strive toward. That’s why I respect it, not because we’ve achieved it, but because those are the values that I aspire to and want my country to aspire to.

People aren't going to like this answer, but it's mine.
To ME the National Anthem, the flag and a whole host of other things are things that make us proud to be Americans. However, they are just aural and visual representations of the CONSTITUTION. A song or a flag doesn't make our country great. It's the CONSTITUTION.
When service men and women, police officers, government officials and politicians take their oath of office, do not swear an oath to the flag, or the national anthem, they swear it to the Constitution.
That's the document and the power it provides each one of us that we need to protect. Not symbols. It's what give folks the free speech to disrespect the SYMBOLS that folks confuse with what makes our country great. I might not like when someone burns or disrespects a flag or kneels during the anthem, but I understand what it inherently means for each one of us as Americans. In one of my classes at the Citadel, I had a very wise professor who was an Army combat infantryman in Korea tell us that the Constitution is not here to protect the Majority, they can do that for themselves. It's here to protect the minority, because when our forefathers set out from repressive regimes in Europe to establish this, that's what they were. They realized the importance of the dissident voice in society.

"Okay, let's stand up so people don't think we're assholes."
I have no reason to protest it, but I think it's silly to get tearful over a song or pledge your allegiance to a country. If I didn't like it in the USA I'd try my hardest to leave. I don't have allegiance to the USA because of a national anthem. I have allegiance to the USA because, despite it's flaws, it's still likely the best place to live. Although I have looked into how become a citizen of Sweden. Gotta get that degree first.

Jose was either blind or wasn't paying attention cause the person asked him if he saw Dawn's early light.

Really just that a sporting event is about to start.

It's a little diddy that expresses that Freedom is something that America was built on, and that we will fight and die for our country with pride, because we believe in Freedom.
