What do you Shreveport Baws think about 50 Cent? He seems to be investing a lot in city.

Uhhh...what does 50 know that we don't?

Or to put it another way, what does 50 not know that everybody else does?

Just think about how much loss he can claim when no one rents office space in his building.

Shrewd and smart.

He just had a very successful festival downtown with no incidents.

Everyone was very skeptical (myself included), but it was by all accounts a huge success.

It was pretty impressive to see the lucid state of the city that weekend.

He has purchased a few million worth of properties downtown, which in turn, has gotten the city to tighten up on the owners of vacant buildings to either renovate them or get rid of them.

That is absolutely not true. While the festival was successful, many cars were broken into downtown and at least one rolling gun battle took place that weekend. Of course that is normal, but the news outlets didn't report it that weekend for some reason.

If it means turning Shreveport into a decent city again, then by all means go ahead. Not opposed to anybody doing good for the state as long as it’s meant with good intentions as well

Shreve Square used to be a music mecca.

even though it was the crowd you would expect, his humor and harmony fest went off without a hitch....no shootings, lootings or any of that which was great to see even if it wasn't an event I wanted to attend.

To be seen what his money and vision does for downtown, but it's in need of some help. Chase who owns Fatty arbuckles and has opened a few places here and there has been trying to carry that area on his back for years and it's just ot feasible. I'm excited at the idea of downtown being invested in and redeveloped... I think if done the right way it could be a big win for the city and businesses down there trying to make it work.

All that to say...I'm glad someone is trying...let's see how it plays out

Sure it might be an urban hip-hop revitalization but since that is the major demographic group of the city if anything is going to work it would be that. I'm not a Shreveport baw and I do not think this plan will work. However, I support Fiddy or anyone spending his money to try an revitalize Shreveport. What is the worse that could happen? Shreveport continues the same downward spiral that it is on now. Good luck Fiddy and don't forget your bulletproof vest when you visit.

We never hear about this. I bet it's more common than we realize downtown.

The rolling gun fight is different- why wouldn't the news report that? SPD reported after the festival that it was overall a quiet weekend. I don't think they would leave that out just because Fiddy was in town.

It's probably not hard to be the 2nd largest property owner in downtown. The city is #1 by a long shot, but after that, there aren't too many people that own multiple buildings. He bought 3 buildings and a parking lot. I welcome the investment.
