Most: rural area, pretty good neighbors, fairly close to town.
Least: roads are shite, hunting and fishing regulations suck, high taxes, low standard schools.
If I could live anywhere else, East Texas, Eastern Tennessee or Western Kentucky.

Like: Rural but close to mid-sized city and DC, mountains, bay are a little over an hour. Weather is mild, plenty of jobs, schools are good.
Dislike: Not mountainous but just hilly, taxes, 95 summer traffic.
If I could do it over: I'd buy more land earlier, but out West, near Colorado Springs or SLC. BUT, I could have been very happy on my grandfathers farm in Natchitoches parish if that could have worked out.

Houston
Too many people, traffic, and weather and lack of outdoors sucks.
I sometimes feel like I am taking crazy pills but we are seriously considering moving back to LA. Back means either Covington/noth St.T, where we are both from, or laff. I want acreage and to build, you aren't doing that in TX unless it ETX or you have deep pockets.

Baton Rouge:
Most: Family, friends, restaurants, proximity to LSU. Also has some fun things things to do… Saint Patty’s day & LSU football mainly. Short drive to Fl beach, easy airport.
Least: Crime, traffic, COL is tad high, local government, flat topography. Baton Rouge is the largest city I’ll ever consider living. Would like to get somewhere more rural when the time is right

I like Oklahoma and living in my rural area but if I had to live somewhere else it would be Southern Utah or New Mexico.

Family roots run deep here.
Nothing buts pines and palmettos. Hot and humid.
Hunting sucks. NE Florida
Moving to SE Kentucky to remedy this

Shreveport. It’s very easy to get around because of excellent road system. It offers a low cost of living. I really don’t worry about crime in my part of the city. On the negative side, It’s a very boring place, the people are very cheap, and natives are burdened with this mindset that nothing should be too nice because someone else may derive a greater benefit.

I love Northwest Arkansas.
Yes, Northwest Arkansas.
I'd love a summer home in Utah but wouldn't live there full time.

Jackson, MS
like: my friends, my little house, my relatively short commute, several restaurants
hate: the weather 90% of the time, the crime, anytime I want to leave my little bubble, all the abandoned buildings, graffiti, and garbage everywhere
There are MUCH better places than Jackson out there. While many of the problems here are also problems everywhere else, a lot of those problems aren't nearly as bad. However, moving somewhere else can be extremely expensive, finding work in a new city that affords you the same or better QOL can be difficult, and replacing your existing social network, especially one formed since birth with deep ties in the community, is almost impossible to do even over several years time.
I get it.
