Tigerpimpbot,

I thought you had massive balls and an elephant dong.

Boom, automatically gayer.

Women don't want washboard abs, they want confidence and success.

I've actually found that most women over the age of 17 don't care as much about abs as they do a "rugged masculinity."

I used to be quite "cut" years ago, almost had this Bruce Lee thing going on. But I was always tired, and by the time I realized I was just fricking tiny, the scale read dreadfully low.

Then I discovered food, squats, and deadlifts. ~25lbs later, I have at best slightly visible abs, but I actually look like an adult male.

That's supposed to be some kind of feat of strength? Lifting ~25 pounds above your waist 10 times in a day? No wonder this country is going to fricking shite.

My wife sent me that article and asked what i thought about the "dad bod".

I told her, you shouldn't have a "dad bod" when you are in college. You should be in shape, and mobile, because when you get to dad age, all that working out and shite gets put on hold. My opinion, if you are in college, go to the gym, work out, run, etc... and stay in shape, because it becomes more of a challenge to do so when you are an actual dad.

I have a 7 month old and we are doing p90x3, but it is hard to even find time for 30 minutes out of the day to workout. You get home, then you have to feed the baby. Then you have to bathe the baby. Then you have your quality time with baby. You have to also cook dinner. and by the time you are done with all of that it's 9 o clock or later. And some time between all of those things you have to find 30 minutes to work out. Its stressful. Don't get me wrong, i love being a dad. But your time is dramatically re prioritized once you have a child, but in a good way.

Try walking around a parking lot trying to find your car with a 17 lb. baby + a 5-10 lb. car seat in your hand. Keep in mind, you also must be mindful of how you are holding the carseat to not wake up the baby.

this is why I get up at 4:30 am to work out now

it was hard at first, but I've made it part of my schedule now and its much easier than trying to find time to workout in the evenings

This.

I have 3 kids and have only gotten "fitter."

Key thoughts:

1.) Early AM Workouts
2.) Weekend workouts. Instead of taking the weekend off, recognize that it's so much easier to find an hour to train on the weekend.
3.) Teamwork. You take care of the kid(s) while your wife works out, she returns the favor.

We are doing that now. I get home a little before her. I workout, then she gets home and feeds the baby. By the time i'm done working out i grab the baby and give him a bath, she works out, i start cooking. Then she's done, she takes baby while i finish cooking. It saves us about an hour rather than us both working out at the same time and having to stop to keep the little guy from crying because he doesn't like the bouncey.

There is no excuse to be fat no matter how busy you are. That being said, if I see someone in their 20s or 30s that is "ripped", I assume they are either single, no kids, or have too much time on their hands. Sometimes I am proven wrong, most time that holds true. As you get older time becomes scarce, it just does. Unless working out is your true escape and hobby, your spouse is very similar, and your work demands allow it, you are going to have to make some major trade offs. Throw in kids and you may only have 2-3 hours a day to do everything else (dinner, life adminstrative stuff, house stuff, etc). Weekends are different but very similar. If you think you can workout with a toddler(s) running around, you should write a book on it. It's not easy and they need a lot of supervision. It can be done but it has to be super deliberate. Waking up early means going to bed early.
