It's been cool here too lately. Lows in the upper 30s to upper 40s. We live in BR though and I'm not sleeping with my windows open even though there is very little crime in our neighborhood

I live in the small town of Thibodaux and wouldn't do it.

Had my truck stolen out my driveway this time last year.

I also stay up during the weekends until around 4-5am. I'm always hearing gunshots during the weekend. Mostly pistols, but a few weeks back I heard 10-15shots that clearly came from a rifle around 2am. Sure enough, high speed chase right outside my subdivision.

Times be crazy.

Damn. I've heard gunshots here once and the following police sirens. Turns out that it was at a questionable apartment complex about a mile from here but as the crow flies it sounded pretty close at 1am. It's probably a 2-3 mile drive from here down actual roads.

We're spoiled around here, I guess. I live in what's considered the 'hood' city in my state and haven't heard a gunshot in 10 years. I generally laugh at the thug element around here. They'd piss their pants in a lot of cities down south.

Used to listen to green hornet and the shadow, on Sirius, on a driving job i had. I'd have 10-12 hours of driving, and kind of dug those old crime shows.

This is the shooting I'm talking about. Crazy I just heard 1 gun, it was just a rifle. Ran outside, was like yeah no doubt a rifle not a pistol. Turned on the scanner app and police had the suspect in a chase to Hey 90.

They also found the rifle while listening to the scanner. Sort of liked the confirmation.

Reason I keep talking about a damn rifle because it sounds like serious fire at night. Esp compared to small caps of a pistol. It's the first time I've heard non pistol fire from the other side of the tracks.

Y'all just have heroin addicts and meth heads. We have gang bangers. Admittedly you are pretty unlikely to be a target unless you participate in that lifestyle though.

Exactly. Property crime is pretty high because of that.
