Is a percentage of income, or a flat rate per kid?
Did either of you keep you keep the house?
Was everything considered community property and split?

Enjoy the ex-wife having all the money and getting it in the a-hole from some a-hole.

Baws, please post. Whenever I consider busting guts in my girl, I’ll think of these numbers and quickly pull out

Typically it’s a set amount per kid based on your initial income when divorced and the wife will typically ask for more if you start making a large amount more and must agree or go before a judge again.
They will also take into account things that come along such as extra curricular activities (sports, dance, acting, music lessons, etc).

50/50 custody. Got the house. No alimony. Kept the nicer vehicle.
Divorce cost me $350. Not shitting you.
Maybe my lawyer was actually a prehistoric creature

I kept the house, including equity which some paid off community debt. I had child support reduced significantly because she was supposed to put the kids in daycare during the summer but never did. I filed a motion of contempt and was able to separate the daycare costs. Had I not done this I probably would still be paying nearly $2k a month while my daughter does not attend daycare any longer. It almost requires a major change of circumstances to change a custody agreement.
I don't mind paying for the things the kids need as long as there is some transparency and I know where the money is going. My ex decided to cash two child support checks at once and ended up going on a cruise a month later. Now I just pay my share of 2/3rds and I keep receipts of things such as buying my son's sports equipment for when he plays baseball or soccer.
Don't just roll over and die, you can demand accountability. Unfortunately Louisiana child support laws can be vague. It's done that way on purpose because you can guarantee that a number of our legislators are divorce attorneys and the benefit the most from that. It has nothing to do with what benefits the kids.

I’ll answer for my husband’s divorce. He has 50/50 custody, child on his insurance, and pays a little over $200/mo in child support. It’s on a formula in Louisiana. They split all the expenses 50/50 (childcare, school, extracurriculars).
He kept the house. Had to pay her half the equity and refinance it out of her name. The only things considered community property were things acquired after marriage. He had receipts for all the appliances and furniture purchased when they bought the house before they married, so she didn’t get credit for any of those (she tried). They kept their own cars. Savings was split 50/50.
He probably paid his lawyer $15k+ by the time it was done, but it was worth it. Every single thing was like pulling teeth to negotiate.

I had an amicable divorce so it was cheap, (under $500 in legal fees).
Support was set by the state as a combo of incomes. It wasn"t so bad because she was an engineer and I made a little less in banking.
She got the house, but paid me my half of the equity after she did a cash out refinance. Getting her to refi was key because it got the mortgage off my credit report. Once again, her having a good job allowed this to happen.
If you divorce a broke chick, you might end up broke too.

And I thank her for it. I was too stubborn to admit I was in a loveless, sexless marriage that made me miserable because I was unwanted. But I never would have left. I’d have just stayed in a stupor and worked until one day I said frick it and ate one. All I was good for was a paycheck.
It hurt, sure, but she set me free and probably saved me from myself. I had dark dark thoughts during those days.

I pay about 300, because I make so much more. But it's also 50/50 for me. And mine is not a mandatory child support. Did my own calculations and pay on my own will. I don't want the state sticking their hands in my business.

Sole custody...
My ex wife owes me over 100k in support and court ordered expenses. I suspect I will never collect on that debt.
