Not much. Some of them come with free tuition for teachers’ children, though, so you can add 10k+ to that salary if the teacher has kids at the school. Not sure if most do that or just some.

That is true, I was just talking about salary from my experience with people I know. The real advantage for most of the people I know is the opportunity to send their kids to a better school for reduced or 0 tuition. Taking that into account, the total compensation is easily that.

Starting salary is around 34k. At least in the catholic schools. The diocese puts out a pay scale and schools have to start there. Some of the schools can afford to add on significantly, and some can't.

I think that is significantly lower in the Lafayette area but I don't have anyone that I know recently who works in the Catholic school system here. A very close friends mom did for years but she is retired now. She made significantly less than public school teachers back then.

This is not true in Baton Rouge Catholic School area. A teacher's kid pays the same thing as any other kid. I've heard at Dunham, teachers' kids go for a discount.

Also teachers don’t have to give homework or grade tests. You can grade them at school during breaks

Lafayette Catholics used to be free for teachers kids. Things change, it may be different now.

Depends on the school, the grade level, the subject, and the number of classes.

A high school math teacher with a masters teaching 5 classes can make north of $43,000. Add in an additional class and you are pushing $50,000.

I think most high school teachers are sitting around $40,000 but I could be way he frick off

$12/hr if you consider they have to work 3 extra hrs a day to grade quizes and lesson plan. Plus time out of their schedule spent communicating with parents that have pos children that misbehave in class.

Agree. Ends up being about 9 months a year. They have to work.

Typically, private school teachers make 50-65% of what public school teachers make. Obviously, there are some exceptions to the rule.

I know of 1 school in my area where the priest makes more than the newer teachers.

You are obviously talking about public schools. I'm pretty sure it's still not that much unless they have like 30 years experience. In EBR Catholic school, starting teachers make about an extra $400 per year for a masters.

but is there any viable information for what private school teachers make in Baton Rouge?

Probably not from the schools, but you never know. I know that CHS has really upped their pay to where they are pretty much at parity with the area publics in terms of salary. Benefits are another story, but the trade is better students, more involved parents, and a better environment (unless you are at a magnet).
