I know there is a difference in pay for private versus public school teachers, but is there any viable information for what private school teachers make in Baton Rouge?

$12/hr if you consider they have to work 3 extra hrs a day to grade quizes and lesson plan.

Plus time out of their schedule spent communicating with parents that have pos children that misbehave in class.

OP said private school. At private schools it's usually more of parents bitching cause little Johnny made an A- instead of an A+.

Unless Baton Rouge is exponentially higher than Lafayette and most other places that I know private school teachers, not even close.

Every single private school teacher I know makes consderably less than public school teachers.

Probably the best answer I've seen but I think that may even be a little high when you average all the privates out.

Starting salary is around 34k. At least in the catholic schools. The diocese puts out a pay scale and schools have to start there. Some of the schools can afford to add on significantly, and some can't.

On the chart:
Low end, 34k
30 years experience, closer to 50k

The chart is probably on their website.

Not much. Some of them come with free tuition for teachers’ children, though, so you can add 10k+ to that salary if the teacher has kids at the school. Not sure if most do that or just some.

Public schools: 40-45k and probably get stabbed.

Private schools: 100$ a month with a selling point of “at least you probably won’t get stabbed”

I never understand people( teachers) that complain saying “oh it’s more than just the 8 hours at school, I have to grade papers at home and deal with parents off the clock” .... that’s part of a career. It’s not a 9-5 job where you are done at end of shift it’s a career and lifestyle that is 24/7. You are a teacher, you don’t work as a teacher for 8 hours a day.

And every career is like that. I get called at 4am, midnight emails and have to deal with all sorts of people indirectly. It’s part of the career I picked. Just like all that shite is part of being a teacher

Rant over
