Yeah, I think they have to hustle pretty hard for ad time and sponsorship deals to get out of the mid 40s to 50s. They can also get outside income from voiceovers, endorsements, or being Scooby Doo in a direct to video dvd.
I enjoy his show- even if for the wrong reasons. If the guys hustles, I hope he makes millions. Nothing wrong with a guy that hustles. Wish him all the success his effort warrants.

I have been to Hawthorne's house for a party, and it was just your average, basic, run-down house built in the 70s. He couldn't have been making all that much.

Have a friend that did 3 hours a day on the radio in Los Angeles, he said with prep time, office time, meetings, a 3 hour radio show is a 12 hour a day job.
This. You aren't just waking up late, reading Tiger Rag then hopping on the air.
You're constantly keeping up with players, coaches, staff and the administration as well as having show meetings, spending hours on researching prep for each show, doing commercial production, remotes, etc. After a while you can get into a routine so that the motions become fairly rote (just as with any job), but the time investment is far, far more than most people think.
You have to fricking loooooove the job because anything less will eventually come across to the audience.

Neither does moscona. He just repeats the same things over and over again 15 minutes at a time with the same exact interviews weekly that are basically just him calling and catching up with friends.

I think some of you are low balling what they make. They aren’t getting rich but saying Hanny and Ott make fifty is kinda low. Ott’s Kid goes to Episcopal. That school is not cheap.

I'm not here to denigrate any personality, as I enjoy them all despite now filling my days with VSIN, Ross Tucker, Dave Dameshek,, Czabecast,,etc..instead of BR radio.
But, I will say that according to what they charge for advertising according to a friend that has had them host shows at his restaurant, there is no way the shows/advertising generate a positive net return for most businesses(his for sure)..be it roofs, cars, insurance, etc..be it small/fledgling or large/well established..

Yeah, you have to prep subjects to talk about. Make sure you have enough material. And do it consistently every work day. It's work.

Most small business owners feel this way about advertising, and its cost, they don't learn what its actually worth to them until they quit doing it.

They probably get close to 30’s and the bigger ones with advertisements mighty approach high 40’s. Radio is dying

I watch Moscona and Culotta on their Whiskey and Wine and often wonder how they afford what appears to be nice houses in Baton Rouge by talking on the radio for 2-3 hours a day.
I doubt they just show up and start talking. There is daily prep work that goes into that stuff. I would be surprised if they made less than 100k. There just aren’t that many people out there who would show up prepared and who are capable of sounding intelligent on the radio every single day.

Wonder how much Bobby novasad makes? The guy is worshipped for being a douchebag in Lafayette. He is basically the king of Lafayette.

Frank Ski at V103 in Atlanta makes north of $1 million. I’d say large market guys make $250-$500k if they are higher rated.

Hawthorne was my parents neighbor back in the early 80’s. You are correct, his home was average three bedroom house in Sherwood Forest. He did have a juccuzi and outdoor swimming pool. His wife at the time taught at my HS. Good people.

Good God, of all the damning, incriminating statements you could make about Lafayette, this is the worst possible one.

Matt probably makes about 60, Hanny about 50 would be my guess. That industry does not pay well unless you make it really big or you are in an exec position.
