I didn't watch the vid but to answer your question, people transporting drugs will try to look so inconspicuous that they look suspicious. That is what cops look for.
Cops are now looking for people being inconspicuous. Welcome to your new America

Cops need to mind their own damn business Like everyone else and only act when called upon. Stop treating everyday Americans as potential suspects.

For the first minute or so I thought it was a friendly encounter, then he said he was going under the speed limit and my bullshite meter started pinging, then he asked where he was coming from and going and my bullshite meter almost exploded.

frick that cop he’s a piece of shite. Truly fricked up that dude had to deal with that.

Highway Interdiction cops are a strange breed.

They primarily use minor traffic infractions as a pretense to stop vehicles they believe are used to transport large amounts of cash or narcotics.

In order to be good at this job, you have to be very good at several things. One of those is profiling likely traffickers as they pass you at high rates of speed. The other is hiding your true motives from the driver in order to observe signs of deception.

This cop could not care less about the drivers speed. He likely issued the citation to cover his own arse bc the driver was agitated and gave off all the signs that he was going to file a complaint and or challenge the stop.

I have already said too much, but this should help some of you industry outsiders understand what you just watched.

I think it’s a bullshite stop too, but I feel like the majority of the times I’ve been pulled over, day or night, the cop asks me where I’m coming from/going to. Don’t know why he was so combative with that line of questioning. I feel like it’s fairly common. I guess if that dude is always getting pulled over for random shite like that I can see why he’d get frustrated, but I sure as shite ain’t getting out of my car and walking towards the cop that just gave me the warning.

This is the most unconstitutional slap to the 4th Amendment’s face I have ever read. But sure no police reforms are needed.

Bull shite stop as others have said.

Was sort of a douche towards the beginning but seems he got worse (the cop) as he didn’t get the suspicious answers he was fishing for.

Where I would have lost it was getting a fricking WARNING ticket for going UNDER the damn speed limit.

I normally support the blue but this officer was an absolute prick towards the end and needs to investigate other job opportunities.

Felt bad for the bro driving having to go through this crap.

Of course his hand continually reaching down to tge camera/phone recording could have caused this situation to go south real fast but other than that he was gtg in my book.

Whren v. United States, 517 U.S. 806 (1996), was a unanimous United States Supreme Court decision that "declared that any traffic offense committed by a driver was a legitimate legal basis for a stop."

In short, the courts agreed that it would be too difficult to establish if a ‘reasonable police officer would stop’ cars for violation x.

So long as a violation occurs, the motive for the stop is irrelevant as long as it wasn’t based on discrimination.

Unanimous decision in 1996. Think about that for a minute.

So......where was the violation then? Considering the speed limit is 70, key word limit. I don’t see where 65 is a violation. Hope the guy took this further and did not let it go.

Your guess is as good as mine. Clearly, the Deputy jumped the gun and stopped this guy prematurely for the first thing he thought was a violation.

I agree, traveling under the limit by 5pm is no where close to an impeding violation.

Point of my post was to give insight into the intent of the stop and motive based on years on the job.

I thought it was a bad stop. Not defending it.

"I have already said too much, but this should help some of you industry outsiders understand what you just watched."

Just because an industry insider can explain the method doesn't mean the method is acceptable. It's profiling and ends up causing law abiding citizens to be harassed by the govt.
