$4000 with a discount in 2008. I felt it was too much money but seems like that's on the lower end of engagement rings.

I wish I had spent less. Kinda like the cost of our wedding. FiL spent $18k on a ceremony and a party. I should have asked if we could start a savings account with that money and had a much smaller wedding.

I spent $27k. $23k in cash and got 0% interest on the other $4k for like 18 months. Paid it off about 6 months later so I could worry about the honeymoon costs. Got it from a Jew dealer who has been my parents' jeweler for the past 20 years.

Red pill Pecker spent that exhorbitant amount on a ring? That is the epitome of beta bucks

Same with platinum. Waste of $$$. Go with white gold.

Wrong here. Platinum is more expensive and rarer than gold. Women know this. Platinum has more advantages over white gold such as it stays white with age while white gold fades to yellow over time. Platinum is stronger and more durable. Platinum will almost always be more expensive than white gold because it is 30 times more rare and mined much less than gold. To be more specific, 2,700 tons of gold are mined per year compared to 80 tons of platinum.

If you have the money then buy the platinum.

I recall this chick I dated wanted me to finance a ring to the tune of $13k. No ma'am.

I can't remember exactly. Less than $750 in 2001. We didn't have much money back then and still wear our cheap Wal-mart wedding bands to remember where we started.

Agree, it's a much better metric and 65k or so is still plenty for any woman who isn't a total striver

Umm.. Gold is about 30% higher now and been so for a while now. It's not like white gold turns yellow, it still stays somewhat silver colored. It definitely doesn't turn yellow. You will get more shine out of gold than platinum. You were probably sold by a good sales rep/Jeweler.

Like $1,500; I was still in college when we got engaged. 12yrs later and pretty successful, I told my wife if it's important to her, we could get her a "nicer" ring. She declined, doesn't give a shite about the diamond.

In retrospect, marrying a woman who doesn't care that she got a cheap ring was the best decision I made and is probably part of the reason we've beaten the odds and been married so long.

She's frugal; we've never once fought about money. My parents did constantly.
This is us, exactly. Hers cost $2k.

Nothing...zip, nada, zilch.
It was given to us by a very close friend of the family, well over 100 years old. Several diamonds originally set in platinum (I forget the cart weight). Removed diamonds, had them reset and gave the family back the platinum band.
Only stipulation was if the relationship went in the shitter, they got the ring back.

Here's what you do my friend:
Buy her a moderately priced engagement ring, then in 10 years get her an upgrade that she picks out. Trust me, she will love that

To much and was given a 2 carat rock to start the ring off. The ring itself has 3 stones - a 2 carat and two .75 carat rocks.
