I am not married but I would have a tough time spending 9k on a ring. I can't see how deciding to spend your life together with someone equates to a one square inch piece of metals and rock.

id she want a chocolate diamond?
Yeah but obviously she likes chocolate lol
It's nice and looks amazing on her
She doesn't know it yet but I plan on getting her a serious more traditional wedding ring

Pfft... Rings are circular, not square.

5k but it appraised for 25k....
Jk. Spend what you want, don't go broke.
If you need any help on value let me know. My business sells jewelry and stones to insurance companies.

$9,058 on a 1.2c emerald-cut. G or H color, IF. Apparently they don't actually grade the cut, but the seller deemed it "excellent" if I remember.
Platinum setting, in a small halo, a couple of diamonds in a Fleur-de-lis pattern on either rim of the band.
I used Blue Nile- selected the diamond and band separately Never really went into the stores.

I know I still got hosed on the purchase. I wasn't claiming to be some shark jewelry bargaining guru. I was explaining that I was only gently raped on the price. I knew going in that there really aren't any good deals on diamonds.

I hope it was one or the other. If they told you it could be both, they are fibbing.

you were happy with Blue Nile?

I bought an engagement ring about 2 months ago. I heard great things about blue nile but I absolutely couldn't mentally get over the fact that I'd be purchasing without actually seeing the thing in person. That's a huge deal breaker for me.

$28,000. Custom made by the same dude that made Tom Cruise's ring for Katie Holmes. Was prepared to pay twice that honestly

Hope your marriage has fared better

Don't spend that much on a ring, shite won't last anyway.

Blue mile is a great resource if you are informed about diamonds. Basically all the dealers and wholesalers use it to move volume. It's slightly above wholesale

Yeah. No issues.

Too goddamned much considering we eventually divorced. I worked my arse off paying for that ring, and even back then she did not do that great of a job of taking care of it. In 1978, $1500 was a lot of money - especially for a poor college student.

they grade cut
GIA doesn't grade/acknowledge the cut quality on Emerald cut diamonds, specifically. That said, Blue Nile called this one "good" and the color "G." It has been a while, and I forgot exactly what I had bought, but I just looked it up.
