There is absolutely no black in the dress.

It's white and gold.

Again, my first glance is black and blue and a butt load of flash, which yes, can throw the colors off.

If so, it's not even really black and blue. Still Looks white and gold.. Just with like a blue tint you would see if you put some sunglasses on in the sun and before your eyes adjust.

Except she saw the dress at a wedding. So she sees a dress she wants her daughter to see...but doesnt send it when she sees it initially? She goes and looks for a store display?
You're surprised she didn't ask someone she may or may not know if she could take a picture of them in their dress?

Apparently the dress comes in four colors... LINK

Bad news though, the lace is black on all of them.

I saw light blue which seemed like shadow on white and gold. If this is because my cones need more light to fire the true colors to my brain, why don't I have this disagreement with others more often? The light I g in the pic, while somewhat dim, is not that dim. I've never noticed other people's or my clothes changing color during twilight or pre-dawn.

The dark image still looks like a whitish and goldish dress in the shadows, to me

People still arguing about this?

In real life = black and blue

In the picture = "dark gold" and blue gray (as shown by Photoshop, pg. 26 for reference)

The light gray blue can cause you to see the dark gold in the picture as black. That's the optical illusion. If you saw gold first then black, rest your eyes away from a computer screen for awhile then you will see it correctly again.

We just got into a huge debate about it at the office. People were yelling and pointing "this color right here is gold!" And then the other side would be like "what! How do you not see that it's black?!"

Quite entertaining.

Why don't some of you understand that the actual dress color is completely irrelevant?
