The same people who complain they can’t keep coworkers from stealing lunch out of the fridge are the same ones the most surprised when their signed ‘57 lsu football disappears from their shelf.

Every workplace needs to have some worthless thief taken out in handcuffs in front of everyone. That event will become legendary and you will have no further problems with such bullshite.

1) go to the staff meeting Monday morning. Act like nothing happened.

I doubt it was the business. It was likely someone in the office who helped themselves to his things and let the business get the heat.
You call the police and have them handle it. If you have a lawyer friend, I'd ask them to send a legal demand letter to the business and get the ball rolling on theat front.
If for some reason it was the business itself, that would likely dissuade them from attempting to sell the items; especially if there is an out for them to say it was an accident/mistake.
Also contact the marketplace and report the items as stolen. But if you're wrong, be prepared for blowback if you can't prove they're your property.
