There has to be some push to get the homeless off the city streets here. Every day I drive around this town and see some homeless fricker begging on a street corner or standing on an interstate offramp, or walking to/from somewhere in the woods/undeveloped lots through a well-worn path into tent cities, etc.

What can be done with this, short of maybe getting some more lethal fentanyl shipments into their dope? It's just getting worse and worse and just irritates the frick out of me. Every day it's micro-incrementally worse and it doesn't really seem like there's anyone interested in stopping it.

Stop supporting them and they leave.

They congregate around services. "Dont feed the animals."

1) Stop voting for Democrats.
2) Shut down the methadone clinics.
3) Give them a bus ticket to California.
4) Have a 2 strikes and your out policy on drug use. 1st time with drugs in your system, give them treatment. If you abuse again, you are sent to prison. If you do it like they do in places like Amsterdam, it works. In the US, it's all carrot, and no stick which is why it doesnt work here.

I don’t understand it either. Except there is a segment of the population that values empathy over common sense.

I hold the highest level of discontent for them, but I also had someone who helped raise me as a kid become one of them not long ago, so it’s weird when you know one and hope that they can somehow turn it around.

It’s also weird when someone falls off and becomes a zombie in their 50’s.

This might actually be what I Am Legend is about.

I always pitched my solution, roving death squad. Just need about eight dudes in two SUVs with some high powered rifles and close combat weaponry and a two man crew on the garbage truck. Would take a few months to catch them all but a lot of them might leave town pretty quick once that's on the table.

I’ve always been told the best way to help a junkie is to not help them. They have to learn to help themselves.

If the mayor and police would do their job they would have moved on by now. They allow this shite to keep getting worse by not arresting them. 90% of them are drug attics that have dope on them would be easy to arrest for drugs or trespassing.

I've started using the reverse uno card and asking them for money before they can ask me.

GOP isn't much better. We need mental health facilities that won't turn into the asylums of the past

Empathy would entail taking them into your personal abode. They would never do such a thing. Same with the illegals. Bitch and moan yet won't personally house them.

What can be done

The very first thing is for people to stop giving to them. Its that simple. As long as people are giving to them that's where they will be.

And since most of them are either addicts or have mental health issues, there needs to be a place for them to placed in. Some type of place that has small structures for them to live in. I'd rather see tax dollars go towards something like that than a bunch of other shite that its used for (I am talking about on a state level). I'd say there needs to be some type of institution for them to live in that have professionals who can offer counselling, etc but if you have them all in one big facility, they will probably tear it to shite.

But if people stop giving to them and they are put in some time of area where they are not allowed to just roam the streets it makes it less attractive for others to come here.

I don't understand why something like this isn't done. They used to have mental institutions back in the day right? No one wants to be in a city where there are homeless people everywhere. And people who remain homeless have some type of mental issues and should be considered a threat to the public.

I'd wager 99% of them are drug addicts. Almost no one is homeless because of losing a job or bad luck. 99% of the time it is drugs. If you are clean, you can go to a shelter. The ones on the street are not clean and are not looking for food. They want cash and they are almost always located near the closest methadone clinic. If they wanted food and shelter they can go to a homeless shelter. However, there are rules in those shelters and no drug use is one of them.

No services.. the leeches and bums are ruining social services for those in real need.. as terrible as it sound you have to let them naturally reduce their population..
