Logging
Is pretty damn tough. 90% of the loggers I know are damn near broke. Some farm to make up the money, and one is cleaning house cutting trees. That crew makes everyone else look like babies. Most of the time, they drive over an hour to and from work. I used to have a crew that drove from Brookhaven to White Castle every day for work. They were in the woods every day when the sun came up, and left around 4 to beat the traffic going back over the bridge

Professional touring Musician, meaning one that is hired to back up a name act on a tour, not someone playing bar gigs.

The hours are insane, with travel time, being stuck in hotels between sound check and show, everyone makes their own deal concerning pay.

You can never be sure what the next job will be.

You sort of have co-workers, but you can't be sick or miss the gig, the person you work for may prefer whoever subs for you and your done.

Depending on your contract a tour could be canceled for a multitude of reason and you don't get paid

Everyone is watching and you can't make a mistake.

Your performance is all that matters.

Being a backup singer has perks of life experiences around the world in front of thousands of people. It wouldn't be something to do for a long time but could be awesome for a few years.

IIRC, grocery stores have the smallest margins of all major businesses.

Finance Budget Manager where one is expected to work miracles every day, work an average 10+ hours paid only for 8 (management just must get the job done), only results matter, super high stress, can't say "no", always in the approve/reject mode, must be uber technically competent with minimum or no mistakes...... Each day consider death versus the drive into the office. What a sweet life........

I don't know. I have a friend that is a professional touring musician and he's been on all the tonight shows, tours the world to sold out crowds, and lives the life of a rock musician.
