I use Chase..

Branches and atms everywhere.

The flat out best mobile banking app out there, including check deposits.

Has every function online that can be offered.

Great customer service.

Great cards, loan service, payroll aevices, sch device, wiring, software integration, etc

I can't imagine needing more from banking.

Things I like in a bank:

Works well with quicken
Nice and easy to use web page
Mobile deposit
High limit on deposit amount and number of deposits per month of mobile deposit

Capital one and chase are the only ones that meet all these criteria, but I'm sure there are more

Except for Iberia Bank, no one has mentioned any Baton Rouge local banks.

I use both Gulf Coast Bank (Baton Rouge / New Orleans area) and Red River Bank (BR / CENLA area) and am very pleased with both. Whatever branch I use, I am greeted by name whenever I walk in the door.

I also have Chase because they offered a $300 bonus last February to open an account with direct deposit. They do have a lot of ATMs around the city, which makes cash withdrawals easy.

Cap 1? No thanks! They don't want my business. (Had been with them since Hibernia days.)

I guess I'm just naive to the banking world because I've been with Capital one since 2007 when I got out of high school and only in the last 6 months have I been having issues. To me each bank was just.. a bank. Nothing special or no real difference. Not sure where to go from here to be honest.

If you are settled then choose one that will discuss your needs, not just your wants. If you go in and say "I want a checking account" and that is all they talk to you about... leave. If you graduated in 2007 you are around 27 years old now. Marriage, house, kids, beginning a long term savings... these are things you want to discuss. Find a bank that will talk to you about your future, and seem sincere in helping you grow. That is my honest advice to you.

Cheers! Appreciate it.

I use USAA and Navy Federal Credit Union, and then keep $1000 in a Capital One checking account just to be able to deposit cash.

I just think it's absolute bullshite that they can make money off of my liquid assets and then have me pay a fee for them to do so.
If you were a bit more liquid they wouldn't charge you a monthly fee. You're being charged a monthly fee because your balance is low Mr Gates.

My biggest gripe with capital one isn't so much about respect as it is the sheer lack of common sense. Why cancel a card ahead of activating a new one? It isn't like the card was mailed 3 weeks ago, and I've been lazy to activate it. They canceled it on the very same day they mailed it.
Must have been a glitch and that is not standard. I have a cap one card and received the new one with chip long before the old one was cancelled.

Great company but you can do a lot better price-wise with other carriers.

If you wouldnt mind reading through the rest of the thread I explain how that came to be, and it has nothing to do with how little money I have in my bank account. My wife and I both clear $10k+/month after taxes.

After both of paychecks go into a big pot bank account, smaller amounts get distributed to smaller bank accounts for personal spending. As I explained earlier this helps us keep track of who spends what and helps protect against identity fraud. Because these smaller accounts are typically less than $500 on any given day, we started getting hit with maintenance fees.

Make sense?

NFCU basically owns my life. They own my house, my wife's car, our savings account, both checking accounts, and my credit card.

If they go under, I'm fricked...

USAA. Awesome customer service, apps, etc. My only complaint is no longer being able to make deposits at UPS stores. They have an app for it though. I just haven't set it up.

I've used USAA for years. The app is super easy to deposit checks and they're immediately available.

I would steer very clear of using USAA for a mortgage though. They were absolutely terrible, and if I didn't have a beast for a closing attorney, we wouldn't have closed.

Well, I figured his topic was based on banks with brick and mortar locations. One would assume a "bank" that is strictly online would have a great app/website function.

Its not real difficult. If you have an account with a low balance you will get charged a service fee. You and Mrs. Gates are the ones who cant make sense of it apparently.
