So far this year between eating out and groceries we have averaged $4k a month. 4 people in the household.

Family of four and you’re paying $1,200 a month on groceries AND you’re still eating out??? What the frick are you buying at the store? I feed my family if four for around $600 a month and probably $150 a month in eating out. Are you cooking steaks three nights a week or something?

From the grocery store? That seems like a ton. You can get a box of pasta, spaghetti sauce and a pound of beef for less than $15 to feed a family of 4 pretty well. I know you aren't going to eat that every meal. A whole chicken is $1.50 a lb. Get a 4 pound bird for $6, buy some potatoes and some veggies and you have another easy meal for less than $15.
Damn, wish food prices here in Orlando were that cheap.

You ordering Rib-eye steaks from Ruth Chris on Uber Eats or something?

Or people who want to eat cheaply since that is one of the points of the thread. Things are getting more expensive so this thread makes sense on ways to save
80/20 ground beef this week is $2.99 at kroger near me. You can buy a pasta for $1.50 and a pre-made pretty good sauce for $6. I also throw some frozen broccoli in. I eat all of that over 3 meals.
I'm not lambasting you just saying that seems like double what I would think it would be to make some dinners You can buy pork chops for less than $4 a pound and potatoes/rice are always cheap. Buy some green veggies and you are done.
I would think you can do good meals for 4 for $15. You won't be eating what you want every meal but you can do good proteins with carbs and veggies for that price

Occasionally. Most of the time it’s all week I eat at home (the $100-$120) then weekends, between dinner and going out after for drinks, minimum $200-$300…and that’s without golf

We don't eat out often and when we do, it's rarely fine dining. We have money to eat out, it's just that I'd rather spend my money on travel.

You had to get married to eat at home?
