In early 80’s there was a wreck at corner of Tiger Bend and Jones Creek that killed a few students from Woodlawn.
I went to school with all of them. I had class and sat next to Jill. Told her bye on Friday and was the last that I ever saw her. Very sad.

The story I heard is that she was turning from a stop sign and ended up hit by an 18 wheeler in oncoming traffic.
No one could quite explain why.

Giantkiller showed me how to pull these up. I went to woodlawn(class of 93). I never heard of this accident. Terrible. August 16, 1980.

Around 2000 in Houston, a tractor trailer tipped on its side onto an SUV with a family inside it. Was at the 59/45 interchange just south of downtown. Crushed the vehicle but mother got out unscathed. Her family was alive but could not get out and burned to death. Mother kept trying to get back in to die with them.
Late 60s, was in backseat sleeping while we were driving from FL to visit in LA. Somewhere in MS, we stopped at a wreck where two tractor trailers hit head on. One carrying diesel fuel and the other a load of onions. It was like 3 in the morning and raining and though I was just a kid. Still remember the smell of diesel and onions.

I scanned and didn't see it.
Late 80's in Baton Rouge. It was summer and some high school kids lined the back of a pickup truck with a tarp and filled it with water. Guys and girls in swim suits were partying and driving around that night. Driver didn't account for all the weight of the water and took a turn too fast and crashed.
I don't remember how many were killed but it was a terrible, senseless tragedy.

Courtney Myshrall and five others killed in two car crash August 1996 on their way to New Orleans. Two cars drag racing racing and hit Courtney’s car. Also killed was Tracy Benton from Woodlawn and another girl. Courtney was a SJA (BR) graduate.
Jay Giblin, CHS graduate, died August 4, 2008 when his truck drove off of I 10 eastbound right after the bridge.
Both victims went to STM (BR) and were in my class. Very good friends of mine. Both accidents made the Advocate.

Just came across this thread searching for the name of a young boy maybe in middle school at McKinley that took his parents car out one night and hit a tree and died. I remember playing sports with him but can't think of his name. This would've been late 90s. I wanna say Thomas...

These were my friends and classmates. They were younger than me as I graduated the year before and was attending LSU. It was the starting QB, DB, and 2 beautiful bright cheerleaders at VCHS. There were not even drinking. My man just fell asleep at the wheel coming back from the game. Attending four funerals in one week really snapped me into the realization that our life is so precious. Check out this post I made in a thread back in 2011 that was talking about Jordan Jefferson's touchdown run during the opening play of Tenn vs LSU one week after the accident:
I remember this. We played Vandy a few weeks before that happened.
Absolutely terrible. Two years later almost found myself in the same situation. Coming back from Mardi Gras in New Orleans heading to Hammond late at night. Driver kept dozing off on I55 on that long arse bridge. Asked several times for him to pull off and let me drive. He refused. Had to grab the wheel several times. Incredible we made it home safe that night

Sad case where teens died in 80's on Drusilla I think. Racing and kids in back of truck.
They passed me on Essen and Jefferson right before it happened..one was impaled on the fence in that park on Drusilla, one was decapitated.

Early 2000s on the basin heading west on a Sunday, on the east bound side several cars and 18 wheelers were piled up. One car was pinned against the rail by one of the trailers, another on fire. People got out their cars to help, all of a sudden there was an explosion and they hit the deck. The worst accident I’ve ever seen.
