Jumped the levee? What year was that? Died?
That happened around 03 or 04. Dude drove off the end of brightside going about 100 mph and they think he was going around 60 when he launched himself off the top of the levee. Flew about 200 feet and landed at the edge of the water. Died a few days later in the hospital.

I don't think this was memorable as far as TV coverage, but would never forget the one I saw a few years ago.
We were driving back from our lease in Roanoke and somewhere between there and Rayne we came up on a very recent motorcycle accident. The bike was all tore up and had motorcycles pulled over with men and women crying and hugging each other. Pulled forward some and saw the deceased with one of the guy's jacket covering his face. No cops or EMS had made it and was pretty raw to see. When we made it to Scott they had a huge party going on at the Harley shop there and had people hugging and crying there so I'm guessing a bunch of people knew him there.

I was working at a plant off HWY 30 6-7 years back and there was a head on accident between a PT Cruiser and a truck 50 feet from me when I was at the front gate. The PT Cruisers engine continued down the highway like 200 feet the impact was so bad. Turns out the 2 people in the PT Cruiser (both died immediately) were fleeing the outlet mall down the road and went into oncoming lane to pass a car. Driver of the truck they hit only had minor injuries thank the lord.
EDIT: Found news link LINK /
I'll never forget running over the accident.

I pass the scene of that accident every time I drive to work. It’s at the big power line on Plank Rd just north of 412.
thing that sticks out to me is it happened on a weeknight and the driver was a repeat offender. Dude should never see the light of day again.

I witnessed a fatal head on collision 2 years ago on Siegen near Cloverland. A northbound Dodge pickup (driver was impaired) crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a smaller passenger car with 2 women inside. That truck was lifted 6ft into the air on impact...The impaired driver lived- but one of the women did not make it....

Hadn’t he been “celebrating “ his birthday with golf and alcohol?

In early 80’s there was a wreck at corner of Tiger Bend and Jones Creek that killed a few students from Woodlawn. Supposedly a bunch of kids that snuck out after curfew.
Know this one more than I want. Was a very close friend to the younger brothers of 2 of the victims. The height of impact to the tree always amazed me. It had to be 10-12 feet up and it sat right at the 3 way stop at Tiger Bend and Jones Creek. I never could figure out how the car got that high.

Something like that. I graduated with his older sister who was briefly married to a good friend of mine right after HS.
She was always a very nice person.

Not BR related but in Clean's part of Louisiana. I was traveling down Hwy 90 one foggy morning near New Iberia and came upon an accident.
A semi truck loaded with drill pipe had run into the rear of a tractor hauling sugar cane early in the morning. The drill pipe became unsecured and a big portion went through the cab of the semi truck. It was one of those semi trucks with the little window at the bottom of the doors. When I drove past you could see part of the driver in that little window and about half the load of drill pipe sticking out the windshield of the cab.

Mid 70's
Highway 165 near McNary, LA.
18 wheeler ran into the back of pickup that had 2 adults and 1 child in front as well as 8 children in back. When the 18 wheeler hit the rear of the PU the bumpers got hung up, the 18 wheeler went off the road with the PU hooked to and slammed into a huge pine tree.
One adult and one child survived.
They were headed to a local swimming spot on Spring Creek locally known as "Boy Scout Camp" or just "Scout Camp".

Yup. We only graduated with 88. Our whole grade took it pretty rough.
I was class of 87. I was at LSU at that time but don't remember this one. Knew most in the 88 class pretty well. What was the girls name?
Posted on 8/12/20 at 1:24 pm to msap9020

All the ridiculous accidents that happened on I-12 during the construction of the 3-lane widening.
Most notably this one that my mom was directly behind and got pics of. This happened around October 2008.

Also remember 4 VCHS kids all dying when the car they were in ran off US90 outside of Houma. They were all coming home from an LSU game. Driver fell asleep and the car ran off the road, flipped and they all supposedly drowned right across from the old Hebert's Junk Yard.
they found the car late Sunday afternoon after searching for the kids all day.
fricking awful.
These were my friends and classmates. They were younger than me as I graduated the year before and was attending LSU. It was the starting QB, DB, and 2 beautiful bright cheerleaders at VCHS. There were not even drinking. My man just fell asleep at the wheel coming back from the game. Attending four funerals in one week really snapped me into the realization that our life is so precious. Check out this post I made in a thread back in 2011 that was talking about Jordan Jefferson's touchdown run during the opening play of Tenn vs LSU one week after the accident:
quote:
The crazy thing about this run was that a week before, my friend from high school died in a tragic car crash with three others going back to houma from the lsu game at night. My friend was the starting QB of Vandebilt High and one of the other guys with him was the starting safety. These kids were great. If you remember before the game they had a moment of silence for the four. Then it just so happens that the first play of the game, the QB number 9,(which my friend TJ was the QB and number 9 of Vandy) breaks free for an 80 yard touchdown. It was pretty emotional.
It still gives me chills. My other friend took over the starting QB role for Vandy and I couldn't imagine how dificult that was.
