I've heard some really crazy ones over the years:
The Spanish-American was was started under false pretenses. Spain didn't really blow up the USS Maine.
GM and Ford design their cars to fail after a few years.
The Vietnam War was started under false pretenses. There was no attack on the USS Maddox
The CIA pays journalists to publish propaganda under their own name. Some say JFK started it, others say G.W. Bush.
Pat Tillman wasn't killed by Afghanis.
The Iraq War was started under false pretenses. Saddam Hussein had no nuclear or biological weapons program.
The CIA gave people LSD, including the Unabomber.
People come up with some crazy stuff. Wish they all could just believe the official truth, as shared by NPR.

FWIW the term deep state was coined by Glenn Greenwald at the Intercept to describe the administrative careerists in the federal government.
Deep state is a lot easier to say than administrative careerists in the federal government. But I do admit deep state does sound conspiratorial until you realize that most of the deep state are fat slugs sitting behind a computer all day worried about some meaningless government process to make your life miserable.

A lot of people believe scientists are conspiring to fudge data to promote global warming/climate change or as a part of some socialist plan, both of which are not true.
