Safe room, or at least a reinforced inner room in case of a tornado.

^^ this ^^

We each have our own walk on closet and mine also serves as a safe room / tornado shelter. Reinforced concrete walls with a Steele door and other stuff.

Central Vac., Pocket doors where ever possible, laundry room room with big mud sink and hook ups for 2 washing machines and 2 dryers.

main thing is an exterior door in the bedroom to make my hastened getaways easier.

Lil more info of what we want. We will have an outdoor kitchen with swiming pool. 3 bedrooms 3.5 baths. Dining room, breakfast area, huge living room with fire place. Want a fire place with outdoor kitchen area. Have 2 kids. Just looking for ideas to add from that. Like the idea of stairs to attic and seat in the window

you start with his and hers bathrooms and closets, a huge kitchen and entertainment area, then go from there

Just an idea if you're married. Have two seperate closets for each of you, but make hers bigger-size of a small bedroom. It can also be where her vanity desk, etc goes. We did this and it's like my own little room.. and none of my makeup/accessories ever clutter up the master bathroom. It's also my own personal hideout...with a wine fridge.

A buddy of mine built a house and had a ManaBloc installed on his water supply in the laundry room and thought it was an amazing idea. Look it up to see if you would like it.

I would hardware Ethernet in the walls in case you want to put some different things around the house.

Make a room designated for playroom. That way the kids crap can stay in that area. They can grow with it and it can turn into homework room, media room, whatever. We have a huge bay window with three large windows, and built in benches for a breakfast nook. We use it several times a day. Have a butlers pantry (seperate from food pantry) for your drinks/ice maker/wine storage. You can also use it for food prep for parties.

If you have kids do not get pocket doors. One they always rub and you have to constantly paint them. Two if they slide off the track because kids are rough then you're fricked. You're pulling the damn Sheetrock off to fix the thing.

The room I'm sitting in now has wasted space behind the door, it doesn't open flat to the wall. Our closet door opens into the bathroom between our vanities and any time something is hung on the door I have to walk 'around' it through a narrow opening into the closet. Plus when the door is open it makes the bathroom look smaller.

ETA Perm, would be for our bathroom closet, or the separate room for the commode, or for daddy's man room. Should we ever build a house that is.

well, a sea view, telescope, and indoor weather station trumps a bunch of throw pillows, even if they are stylish throw pillows
