We tried that once. If you get too far north hardwood is too cold in the winter. Carpet in the bedrooms is nice to have.

Check the output on those USB outlets. Not all are built or charge the same. Some put out such a small charge that its almost not worth it.

Make the main bathroom handicap friendly. Shower seat and wider bathroom door. You never know what may happen in future with your family. It will save you a ton of headaches if and when your are injured.
Man no offense, but this is the very last thing I want in a new home. If I get to that point I'll move into a retirement community. I'm 41 I'm not installing a handi-redi bathroom. Our shower is custom, and has a seat, and a large heavy swing glass door. If that isn't good enough I'll move.

I just built his and hers master bathrooms. It's a life changer. My counter/bathroom/closet is spotless. Her master bath is the typical trainwreck but i never see it.

A clock tower with a nice chime. It's beautiful and will alert the early morning joggers when it's time to hit the showers and get ready for work.

Pocket doors? frick that noise. Pocket doors are a solution to a problem, if you are designing from scratch, just don't design a problem

Wherever you put the laundry room, make sure the dryer vents directly to the outside.
No run up in to the attic or eves. If you do, eventually the lint will take over and you will have expensive repairs.

A friend of mine had each kid's room on a separate breaker. Rather than spank them for being a shithead, they would lose power to their room.

A lot of nouveau recommendations here based on timely technology and other bullshite. If you want a "customized" nice home, just consider the following:
1. St. Joes bricks in the house and outside
2. Antique oiled heart of pine floors
3. Cypress cabinets and ceilings in kitchen and hallways
4. Slate in the backyard around your pool
5. Cedar closet for the winter
6. Viking range and stove
7. Sub zero fridge
8. As many cypress ceiling beams as possible
9. Laundry chute if you're a real fricking OG
10. 75kw Generac generator
11. I could go on, but if you don't get the picture by now it would be a waste of my time.
A man cave? Seriously? That's what rich people call a fricking study. Jeez Louise, you fricking people...

Not even really sure where to start. Holy fricking shite -- a lazy Susan? Do you live in a trailer park? Seriously.
