Whoever mans that drawbridge in Madisonville has a pretty sweet gig.

The grosse tete bridge which is a bridge that crosses the intercoastal and allows people to get to grosse tete from Plaquemine is/was manned by a husband and wife who lived right near the bridge booth. They get the call on their radio whenever a boat is coming and they just walk a few yards to put the bridge in motion. Then the bridge doesn't open for like 2 hrs in the morning and 2 hrs in the afternoon because of the school traffic.

Im not sure what they (or if only one gets paid) get paid, but they live a modest life so it seems like a good little set up for them.

Working on a new theme park build. Best job ever is Props Manager. They fly across the country and internationally to antique fairs to buy props…..and that’s about it. They have a vendor who will fricks with them a bit to make them looked more themed and last a bit longer, but that’s their job. To do so and within budget.

I got to talking to a fella at a bar in Key West a few years ago who had just gotten off a ship somewhere in South FL, he was contracted by the military to operate some sort of equipment that detects foreign/enemy submarines. Thought that was pretty cool. Of course he "wasn't allowed to tell me" when I asked him if he found any.
