my contribution to OP is the old plasma televisions. the dark blacks of these TVs has never been re-created with the new dominant TV tech (LED, etc). and this isn't from memory, i am literally sitting in my living room with an almost 10 year old plasma that has a much better picture than the top of the line LED alternative to its left

This sounds more and more ignorant every time I read it.

Cars.
This.
So much unnecessary crap in the electronics just waiting to break, dealer diagnostics capabilities are shite. Jackasses at Mercedes linked the windshield washer sensor on the same circuit as one of the fuel sensors, so if a pebble hits the washer reservoir, fuel system shuts down. Incredibly stupid way to save 15 cents in the circuitry. Yukon just as bad. Car can mysteriously die, engine, steering and brakes cut off while traveling at normal highway speed and gmc can't find a cause. They guess it could be a bad ground somewhere but don't know where.
Wish they still made 1950 Oldsmobiles or 1954 Chevies.

I have an old one at work I use every morning for breakfast.
Love it for cereal or scrambled eggs. EVERYTHING. It's the middle sized one here.

Buy Speed Queen washer and dryer. Commercial, no bells or whistles, larger capacity, last much longer than any other and much less expensive.

no one read's cads maytag threads.
yep, if you can find a good set of 1980s maytags on craigslist for $100, get them. it will be the last set you own and the bonus is if you can turn a fricking screwdriver, you can buy $15 parts if something goes wrong and fix it yourself.

yep, old cokes in 8oz (or even 6 1/2 oz) bottles made with cane sugar
and movie theater popcorn. now that they did away with the old style grease, it has way less flavor.

quote:Same. I have a Panasonic ST60 that I got just a couple years ago before they quit making them. I have floor-to-ceiling windows in my apartment so during the daytime it kind of sucks having plasma, but any other time it's amazing. I mostly use it at night so the brightness issue isn't a huge deal for me. Them inky blacks though
I'm going to cry when my Panny plasma bites the dust (65VT60). Love the picture. Still have 42" Panny EDTV plasma from 2005 that works great, despite the 480p native resolution
