What are some cities where you don't understand how there aren’t more people living there?

For me, it's Greenville, South Carolina. When I think of Greenville, I think only of the healthcare economy and the vital role they play being situated between Charlotte and Atlanta.
I don't understand how they have 60,000 people in a city with only when they’re so central to everything. Beach, north enough to be away from hurricanes.

There are all kinds of reasons some places dont have more people
Land in the surrounding area owned by others making expansion expensive or just impossible. Laws intentionally limiting development to prevent being overrun.
Greenville is a fairly good sized city and metro area though. Not every city can have a million+ people.

My sister used to travel nurse before having kids. She did 4 months in Greenville.
The people there are pretty backwoods.
She went to the hair stylist and the women in there didn't understand why she was getting her hair colored.

Morgantown, west Virginia but really all of west Virginia.
The scenery is amazing and more outdoor things to do than I expected.

Yeah West Virginia is beautiful and an outdoor paradise
Its just really hard to get anything going in almost the entire state because its 100% mountains and you can't just plop down a subdivision because there isnt room for it

Using only city proper can be misleading for some places, think Atlanta or Miami. I believe I believe there’s half a million people or more in the Greenville metro area.

There is tons of advertising for real estate development in Bend. Give it a couple of decades, it will be completely insufferable.
