But wouldn’t you like having the option? When you’re 79 I bet you’ll think differently.

Me, I’d like the option to live to 1,000. If I get tired of it, I can end it myself.

80 is not fine. I'm 75 and healthy, walk 2 miles every day. You're talking to an old person now. I've decided about 85 or 86 is my limit. Also I just lost 30 lbs.

It’s not about how long you live, it’s about how you lived.

With that said, I’ll take 85-90

Because then you don't have to deal with the grief and fall out?

The number means nothing, it’s all dependent on quality of life.

Sorry, but you’ve got a Good news:Bad news scenario here.

Good news is that you get your wish on the timing.

I will consider it a success if I make it to 88.

But I met a 98 year old woman the other day...she walked slow but was sharp as a tac

When my grandfather died in the ‘80s, I remember thinking that he had lived a long and happy life…he was 73.

Since that time, healthcare has advanced so far, I now believe that you can easily live to 85 and be assured of a reasonable quality of life.

If you live long enough, either your brain or body will start to go. It seems like your 80’s are especially brutal if you make it that long.

But am going tomorrow to see my grandparents. Live and kicking and we can't wait, late 70s.

I realize people had kids earlier in life in the past but if you were born in 86 your grandparents are young to still be in their 70s.

Agree, it’s a combination of brain and physical health. My grandfather lived to 102, and he was was terrific until the last few months. He was an exception to the norm, I’ve known folks in their late 70’s in worse shape physically and mentally.

My dad would disagree. He turns 80 on Saturday. He actually just fell and hit his head 2 weeks ago …. while playing basketball and guarding his 8 year old grandson (he slipped while chasing down a rebound ). He sat right back up, but he’s no longer allowed to play. Just shoot only.

He is super optimistic about the outlook of LSU sports in the next decade to come, and he fully intends to live to see it.

When he hit his head, my mom convinced him to go to get a head CT : “do you want to die tonight?”

He said “no not tonight, I’d like to see the rest of LSU season at least”

When the good Lord calls me home. My brother just died a month ago. He never had been to a doctor much. He was 65 and had a brain bleed stroke a couple months ago. He suffered terribly for four months. I hope I don’t suffer when it’s my time. I definitely want to go before my wife , kids or God forbid any of my grandchildren

Is that not what I just said?

I was just surprised because I'm 8'ish years older than you and my parents are in their early to mid 70s. All of my grandparents would be over 100 by now other than one that would be 98 (all deceased unfortunately).
