We had many, many discussions on the major differences between the 2 groups of idiots, er, parties. Tried to further some understanding. You do the best you can, set them free, and hope they're happy.

Nah. They had fairly liberal views before college, and to their credit, they both stayed away from that bullshite on campus. They were stronger than that.

You guys must be quite the saints to sit around calling others vile and evil all day.

I wish it wasn’t real. But I’m 100% serious. She hasn’t become hostile toward the family or anything thankfully. But I think that’s mostly because we all simply avoid politics whenever she comes home to visit.
What’s sad is she was a pretty girl with a bright future. Always did great in school, honor society and everything. Now she lives in an apartment with a group of other lesbians, I think she has like 4 or 5 “roommates.” As I said she only lasted in college for like 2 semesters. Now she works as an adult babysitter for elderly people in Portland. I don’t get into their business too much, but I know her parents are always having to send her money. That also probably plays into why she hasn’t turned against the family.

The daughter is a progressive retard but this is a legitimate question.
Why is a New Mexico state senator taking Israeli funded trips halfway across the globe???

This same sort of schism happened between my brother and my dad. It's much worse IMO as he is a grown man of almost 50 years, with a full-time job, house, etc.
My brother (I am told) basically just sits around watching CNN all day while he works from home, muttering about Donald Trump, Elon Musk (who I agree is a dangerous weirdo), and so on. He started sending my dad hostile texts relentlessly, to the point that my dad (a devout Catholic) blocked his number.
I think back to Michael Savage saying 20+ years ago that "liberalism" (which is not what either of us would call it anymore, I guess) was a "mental disorder." At the time I kind of chuckled along like yeah, Mike, that's clever, but I think his assertion has proven to be true in a literal, clinical sense way beyond any Clinton-era jocularity. These people really are deranged fruitcakes, like people from Alien or Star Trek after they've become host for some nasty alien parasite.
I really don't think it's explicable in terms other than "mental illness" at this point.

There have been studies done that show that leftists/progressives are significantly more unhappy than conservatives.
I'm guessing that's because progressives have been programmed to see racism, sexism, inequity, unfairness, etc etc everywhere they look. It makes them sad little dumbasses. And the funny thing is, liberal politicians and their allies in the media is largely to blame for it.
quote:
American adults who identify as politically liberal have long reported lower levels of happiness and psychological well-being than conservatives, a trend that mental-health experts suspect is at least partly explained by liberals’ tendency to spend more time worrying about stress-inducing topics like racial injustice, income inequality, gun violence, and climate change.

Maybe she became this way after the Epstein files were withheld by Bondi? Wouldn’t say she is mentally ill for not liking Trump. Maybe sign of mental illness is supporting Trump?

AIPAC moves in mysterious ways, often through other special interest groups in the form of all expense luxury trips to Israel to make sure our lawmakers stay in their good graces.
Her shitty attitude toward the hand that fed her and pays for her college & masters program had its beginnings when he supported Trump in the 2016, and then increased during covid when she went all in with lockdowns and masks and he did not.
Now the left is giving her a ton of attention including a Newsweek article it appears, but Israel and palestine are just her current choices to be a shitty daughter and person.
As for going to Israel it seems pretty close to the time when some state and local govts were starting to “divest” themselves from buying anything that might support Israel including Israeli companies.
quote:
The senator said his relationship with his daughter went sideways when he began supporting Donald Trump in 2016.
Their bond worsened when she 'bought full-in' to Covid-19 lockdowns and became a feverish supporter of masking.
He told the Daily Mail their family was dismayed when she praised Luigi Mangione for killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in 2024, and insisted that was 'not the way we raised her.'
Maddie has since shifted her focus to pro-Palestine content on social media. Block said, at the moment, 'she just can't forgive me for being a Republican.'
He said Maddie's grandparents have also been heartbroken by the rift after they saw 'really nasty messages.'
The fallout within the family burst into public view in September as Maddie posted a video to TikTok calling out her father for taking a trip to Israel with other lawmakers.
'WTF does Netanyahu have to do with any local issues in New Mexico?' she captioned her clip, which was viewed more than 1.5 million times in a matter of days.
