No it won't. The people actually able to exploit that resource are a very, VERY tiny minority. Most people are going to remain in the cities and starve. They don't know anything else.

I would load up all my guns and ammo and head to my land in north La. It's very secluded, no road frontage and we have 2 spring fed creeks. I have a cistern already set up and probably 25,000 rounds of ammo. I'd hunt small game and forage to feed our family and when the game runs out, I'd start killing people and eating them. From what I understand, the human body is very similar to pork.

The urban folks will remain in the city fighting over what little resources there are. Going out in to the country to scavenge wouldn't even cross their minds.

I agree with this. I don't see a huge mass of people traveling out of New Orleans heading out by foot. They would be moving along the interstate but I think they would maybe head towards other cities and not so much out into the wilderness.

I have beef, a stocked pond, and plenty of wild game. I think I could keep me and my family alive past the first few volatile years

Look up deer estimates during the Depression, it would dwindle quickly.

Small game and birds is where the chances are

That many people probably would not starve right off. There would be mass cannibalism once people got hungry and desperate enough. Just like in Cormac McCarthy's "The Road".

I guess getting hit by a major hurricane would not really be a problem being that your daily life is already without conveniences .

Cool thread

Most urban people would die waiting for the government to come. Urban isn't code I am talking all city dwellers.

Then the few left to move out would have a massive area to move to like spokes on a wheel. The best strategy is to lay low and let them die off.

I am under no delusions about my survival
