So they do eat small fish. Which die by slowly being digested in stomach acid. Death is shitty people. But it's the 'circle of life' if that makes you feel better.
They should kill the whale shark before skinning it IMO but I think people are hilariously out of touch with the natural world and how shitty death is for every last animal out in the wild. The other options for the whale shark are what, to succumb slowly and painfully to cancer or get surrounded and eaten by a pod of orcas? There is no pleasant way to die for wild animals.

Fish do NOT feel pain like you do. Fish do not have a neocortex, and lack the nociceptors that allow an animal to actually feel pain.
