If you weren’t ate up with institutionalized racism due to the patriarchy you wouldn’t be upset about this unplanned donation.

Premium Parking (Valet) is blaming Canal Place (Shopping Center where Parking Lot and Westin are located) because their security didn’t stop these guys for 1.5 hours, and Westin is not taking any stance or anything except it’s not them
I'd tell Premium Parking that I didn't have an agreement with Canal Place, I had an agreement with Premium Parking.

The valet company is responsible for your vehicle from the time they take the keys until the vehicle is returned to you.

They should be carrying bailee's insurance to cover customer's vehicles during the time the vehicle is in the valet service's possession. Tell Premium Parking that you want a copy of their insurance info so you can file a claim against their insurance for your truck. If the valet company refuses, get a lawyer.

Their insurance is working with me currently. They use Sedgwick. I just don’t know if I’ll get enough to purchase a new vehicle without incurring a note. Not holding my breath

Thanks for the update. I hope you end up getting a replacement truck.

To me your company has some responsibility. Did they offer any assistance to you since it was a company function? If they'd didn't offer any help, that would be the last company event/function I'd attend after work hours.

Valet and parking lot attendants are 100% foreigners in Houston; is it different in NOLA?

I'm not sure. I don't live in north Louisiana.

Dude is going to get worked over until he hires a lawyer. The insurance company is about to cowbell the frick out of him.

For some reason he seems to be against it, or has and just hasnt said it.

Not against it just don’t know who to call. I’ve called 4 law offices and either didn’t get a call back or was told they didn’t want it

They should be covering the full blue book value of the truck plus covering your costs to have a rental vehicle from the time you were without a truck until at least when you receive the settlement check.

Don’t expect to get enough for a brand new truck, but you should get enough to cover a comparable vehicle (year, make/model, mileage, features, etc)

Honestly, only marginally.

Plenty of times they are misplaced and then found. Likewise valet folks are great communicators. Society’s finest often follow other paths.

On the surface I’d be curious about it (especially if they went straight to his car) but if provided the video he describes I’d probably put that piece on the back burner until something else makes it relevant again.

FYI Sedgwick is a third party claims administrator, which means the company is self-insured and uses Sedgwick to manage claims. Sedgwick is not an insurance company.

Probably bc of a conflict of interest either with Marriott, the insurance companies or valet companies

You need to get Gordon or a firm or independent attorney with no conflict of interest

there are more lawyers per capita in Louisiana than anywhere else, someone will take it. Grok gave these:

The Chopin Law Firm LLC - An award-winning personal injury firm that can address negligence claims like valet liability. LINK

Womac Law Firm - Experienced in personal injury and accident cases, with a track record of securing compensation for clients in New Orleans. LINK

The Voorhies Law Firm - Recommended for personal injury matters, including auto-related negligence in the New Orleans area. LINK

Question for those saying I should lawyer up for this. What is the reasoning and what basis do I have to stand on. If Sedgwick pays me “Fair Market Value” for my truck via something like KBB, and my current insurance is taking care of rental car for 30 days, then where does a lawyer come into play. KBB is putting me anywhere in the $30-$33k range for a 2021 RST at 50k miles in great shape

Get a lawyer unless they are bending over backward for you and giving you +++ money over vehicle value. They are pretty shite and you will be strung along even further.

Neither Gordon McKernan nor any lawyer in his personal injury settlement mill would know the least bit about how to handle this.

If that comes through then I wouldn’t think you’d need a lawyer, especially taking 1/3ish of whatever you get.
