Why do you want to rob people of their culture in a place called the "melting pot?"

This is exactly why it’s cool to live separately and in different Nations.

No we do not all need to live together.

People are so ignorant.

It’s a celebration and blessing of the graves. It’s meant to bring unity and family. You would think the dead would want that.

People need to read. Most of the comments are from older white women

My grandparents are buried there. I’m not going to lose sleep over it, but think its in poor taste. Its a Mexican tradition and just based on westbank demographics (at least up until after Katrina) I doubt there’s many Mexicans buried in that cemetary, so why do it there to start with?

This is a good time to get over it because the demographics are changing.

It's a day of the dead thing right? This is normal in Mexico. Their version of Halloween.

I knew this is a big Mexican holiday. I didn't know they have actual cemetery parties but according to google Its customary. I don't object to it in principle but in practice it would be very unsettling to visit a family member's grave and find a fiesta in progress.

If every other get together they have is the same as this one, there will be piles of garbage, food, beer bottles, and used diapers all over the graveyard

It's perfectly reasonable to not want a party on your dead loved ones grave, especially when it is not part of your culture/belief system.

Nothing like food trucks to celebrate. While we're at it let's bring in some carnival rides and put a huge circus tent over the graves.

Who cares? It’s 3rd world demon worship bullshite. Go back to your own country where you have an established culture and do it. Don’t come desecrate the graves of other cultures. frick them.

Multiculturalism is bullshite. Keep your demon-worshipping bullshite away from our cemeteries. It’s not hard.

The older I get, the more appealing an unmarked grave gets. Tell my family to use my favorite lake or something as the place to go to remember me if they want.

Then as an added bonus they won’t have to care if there’s a party on my grave or the grass isn’t mowed or anything like that.

If we all believe what we say we believe, a lake or something filled with memories should be more meaningful than an empty decomposing body.

Not get political, but since the event is just a few days before Election Day. I could be an undercover Democrat voter drive to ensure the cemetery residents vote Democratic and the organizers will collect their votes to submit the following Monday before the deadline.

But in Louisiana, it is a little harder to accomplish this as there strict reasons and rules to apply and receive an absentee ballot for an elderly/disabled person.

Damn that was some forward thinking when they came up with this holiday sometime before the 16th century
