Every time I fly, the annoying TSA agent at the BR airport harasses me about getting a compliant drivers license. Every time, I smile and nod.
The day they actually have the switch go mandatory, I’ll just start using my Global Entry card.

We’ve been supposed to get real IDs to fly since like 2005 but LA gets an extension every time the due date comes up.

So, you need a social security number and a birth certificate to get a real ID so you can fly. Or you can get a passport which requires neither a birth certificate or a social security number. That’s pretty funny.
My son doesn’t have a SS number. I figure I’m not going to sign him up for that, if he wants to when he gets older, it’s on him. You’d be amazed how many times we hear “you’ve got to have a social security number to X”. Fact is, you don’t have to have one at all if you don’t choose to get one. BUT... if you have one you have to provide the number if requested. If you don’t it’s against the law in many cases, such as when you apply for a passport.

There must be some national (but hidden to us mortals) for training for states’’ DMV employees to ensure such policies. It extends to tag offices, too.

Global Entry card also works. I’ve used that and my TWIC on flights just to verify that both work.
