Hope you’re ready to move out of state or to the country. Louisiana is one massive shite hole. Urban areas are decaying, crime rising, piles of trash and hoards of homeless are everywhere.

Northshore, St Francisville, Thibodaux, Zachary. In order...the best we got.

But maybe NOLA will start to thrive once Brandon delivers the clean crack pipes.

Congrats on the smart decision. Life is too short to live in a miserable unsafe area.

Maybe you like being stifled by living in the constant problems of a somewhat large city but CenLa is a country boys dream and a great place to grow up or raise a family. Not to mention a short drive or flight away from the city if you need to be in one. Let's hope it stays that way.

Then how the frick are you still in that shithole in 2022?

It’s honestly not that easy to uproot your family and leave your life. If others can make that decision so easily, I respect them for it, but we couldn’t until now. The last few things we enjoyed in the city are no longer enjoyable to us, so it’s time to call it and get out.

City leadership is absolutely lost and they have no idea how to fix it even if they felt inclined to do so, which they don’t.

And the general sense of “well that’s just Nola” from the white liberals in Nola will guarantee nothing will ever change.

My heart is heavy and we’re gutted, but this is the absolute right choice.

I would argue that the Progressive leadership is not lost at all. They know exactly what they are doing and they are accomplishing all of their goals.

Northshore, Baton Rouge, or Houston?

Not sure tbh, we haven’t gotten that far yet.

Of course most who leave Orleans Parish will go to Jefferson, St. Tammany, or Tangi. I don’t think we’ve eliminated any of those, but part of me wants to say frick it and do TX, FL, or TN.

A few have mentioned Gulf Coast MS, and that’s something we haven’t thought of.

I realize you are joking, but a lot of OT posters feel the need to repeat the same statement.

I disagree with it completely BTW. There are some great places in Louisiana to raise a family. The hard part is securing a career in those places given Louisiana's uncompetitive economy and weak job market in many fields.

I get it. My wife was a city girl and I grew up in the sticks. We lived uptown when we were dating and first married. It was a process to get her out of there, but the argument was always "we can't raise our kids around this shite". Now she is sending me real estate listings of barns and pastures.

I think you mean “given the lack of any job market outside of personal injury attorney or oilfield-related work.

Also, if the only places where it is good to raise a family are necessarily nowhere near any viable job prospects, by definition, I don’t think it can be called a “good place to raise a family.”
