Sounds like a plan. Best of luck to you and your family.

If you want to relocate to Youngsville let me know. I’m about to list my house.

Orleans Parish and the city of New Orleans have the same boundaries. I agree with your general sentiment but don't get what you're saying here.

I love when people see the light. Like when an abused woman finally sees that her dickhead husband isnt the man she wnats him to be and the "love" is a mirage. What maybe once was is not anymore and what people really love is an idea they have. They take and take and take and give nothing back and when finally people see that and flee for their happiness it makes me happy for them.

New Orleans is done. Remember it for what it was but it will never be the same.

Come to Lafayette
Close enough to visit far enough not to care what they do

I grew up uptown in the 90s and had a few minor things happen (brother got jumped for his bike, a few things stolen out of our backyard, etc.), but nothing more than that. Used to hear gunshots at night, but that was “normal.” When I would come home during college in the early 2000’s and go out at night, I would circle my block when I came home if anyone was walking near my house until they were gone. I would run red lights on Carrollton at night so I wouldn’t get carjacked. That’s just how I lived.
It wasn’t until after Katrina when I moved out of state that I realized that none of that was normal. Other places had smooth streets, low crime rates, and functional governments.
After living out of state for a few years, I live on the North Shore now and you couldn’t pay me to move back to NOLA. My family can walk around here at night without worrying about getting shot. We can drive places after dark and don’t have to have our heads on a swivel looking for carjackers. The chatter on the town Facebook pages is all about street signs and annoying golf carts on the street and not about murder and the lack of garbage pickup.
Until NOLA leaders find a way to arrest, prosecute and jail all current violent offenders and provide consistent, long-term, mental health, mentoring and life skills assistance to young African American boys before they turn to crime, this cycle will continue.

Property is dumb expensive in Cenla for no reason...
I recommend leaving the state.

One of the best days of my life was when my wife sold that last property she owned there, all had been inherited. Wife hated NOLA for 20 years before that even though she was born and lived there for over 40 years

Seriously, drive over here today. Check out the town, the private school…
If you claim to live in a good area and still feel the need to send your kid to private school, then it's not a good area.

Public schools in Harrison and Hancock are better than anything public in BR or NOLA. Still doesn't mean they're all great, it just means that none of them are shite.
Pass Christian and Long Beach are good. The bigger public schools are still good, but it's still the south and they still have those demographics. You'll just find fewer 8th graders with baby mommas and parole officers than you do in Louisiana.

Hancock is probably a hike from you then.
