Lived there for about six months. Wanted to stay because we loved NOLA. Too much crime. We now live in a small mountain city an hour from Denver. Last murder here was a few years ago. Domestic. Plus pot is legal. And it’s true, there is something about mountain air.
Zero humidity so 28 degrees here feels like 40 degrees in New Orleans. I wore a coat much more in the winter in Louisiana than I have here in Colorado.

Might want to rethink this plan. After the 2 year soaking we just took, we are unloading rental properties as fast as we can. Never again.

Just out of curiosity:

Who did you vote for in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections?

Sure is. Even black people who have the means to escape the shitshow move out.

I would think about selling for sure. Decent houses are getting prime prices right now and nice houses are getting crazy prices

Pretty soon all of the tax payers will have left, and the only folks left will be the trash. That’s when the city will start to rot.

Your probably saving you or your family from future serious bodily harm. It's the right choice. That city has failed you.

If the city just had more community policing then all the crime would vanish.

It’s just like what BR is doing. Brooke’s community policing will make it all go away.

My parents live in the qtr and have for 30 years. I just visited for the first time since right before covid and was absolutely shocked at what has happened to a once great area. I genuinely would never go back if they did not live where they are.

Make sure you leave Louisiana completely if you’re pulling the bandaid off and going through the trouble of moving.

You’ll look back and wonder what took you so long, it’s so much better out of that shithole

Mid City. Isn't it a funky little neighborhood?

Seriously, a significant fraction of you people who white knight for Orleans Parish (which IS NOT synonymous with "New Orleans" any more than Atlanta = Fulton County) are going to live to regret it. You will get assaulted for the color of your skin if you stay.
