I dated a couple girls with magical vagines. I’d like to be able to sniff them again. I bet I’d recognize them instantly

It's just that what some of 'em are attached to that ain't so great.

There was a gun bore cleaner that my uncle used in the early 80s that I’ll catch a hint of every once in a while. I’ll think of him.

He was a POS and I had nightmares about that guy when I was a little kid. I saw him pull a gun on my grandparents when I was 5 or 6. Dad stood up to him after he did that. He threatened to kill my dad. He didn’t mess with anyone after that day though. shite like that sticks with a little kid though.

I laugh and think of Dad when I see a chartreuse Bomber A crankbait.

Chanterelles

A friend of mine, older woman, we went foraging for mushrooms one day. Found some lovely chanterelles. Went back to her place and sautéed them down with some Chardonnay and cream and butter.

Ate them with some whole grain toast she got from Trader Joes. It was just a lovely time foraging, a lovely meal and a lovely afternoon visiting and drinking wine.

She died from cancer a couple years ago. I still think about her. Wonderful person.

The smell of Baby’s Breath ( flower) reminds me of my Paw’s funeral. I was 6. Every now and then I get a hint of it and it reminds me of those special times I shared with him in my short life.

I immediately think of my paternal grandmother every time I see a photo of crawfish bisque cooking in the pot or served over rice. I can see her standing at her stove stirring and talking while I sat at her kitchen table. We lived 2 streets over from her home and I’d ride my bike around the neighborhood and stop to see her and her pet beagle. It seems that many times she was cooking the crawfish bisque. This is circa ‘59-‘60. She always gave me a sample while I was there.

this is extra weird, but every time I eat broccoli I think of my husband's grandma. She scolded me once for throwing away the stems, said that was the best part. Have no idea why that stuck with me but it did.

Moth balls take me back to my grandma's house.

Kids riding bikes remind me of my dad. I have a distinct memory of my dad teaching me to ride without training wheels when I was about 5. He died when I was 7.

Getting a license reminds me of my grandfather. When I had just turned 16, I had been wanting to go to get my license. My mom checked me out from school, and I thought I was getting mine, but actually it was because my grandfather had died.

My 90-yr old grandmother always had an 8-pack of Miller Ponies in her fridge.

My other grandma - Me'Me', pretty much taught me how to cook starting in my pre-teen years. From stuffed artichokes, crawfish bisque, and bruciuluni. She shopped at Dorignacs, and had the butcher custom slice veal the thickness of her pinky finger. Pounded it thin, stuffed it, wrapped in cooking twine, browned then baked in a homemade red gravy.

my mom passed away over 20 years ago...before she got sick, she spent as much time outside as she could, gardening, walking, picking pecans in the fall...maybe 10 years ago, i was in the orchard picking pecans...it was a cool, cloudy, very still day...i heard something behind me and turned around because i thought maybe my stepfather was coming...suddenly, there was a breeze that blew a bunch of fallen leaves up into the air, like a small whirlpool...the leaves rose to about the height of a person and swirled around for a minute or so, then the breeze was gone and they fell back to the ground...i just had the overwhelming feeling that my mom was near me...it's actually happened a few more times since then, and it has made me feel calm and comforted each time...

When I was a kid back in the early 70's, there was a bad car accident at an intersection about 50 yards away from my house. A young woman was ejected from the car and the car rolled up on her trapping her from the shoulders down. The wreck ruptured her fuel tank. I was there when they lifted the car off of her. She died on the way to the hospital.

For years, I thought I smelled old stale gas when I walked by that same intersection so every time I smell old gas that'll trigger that childhood memory.

Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit remind me of my dad who was just laid to rest at the veterans Cemetery this past Friday.

he was short and we jokingly called him a Hobbit or Bilbo - makes me smile and sad at the same time.

Each one has a song that reminds me of them. Some the song was played/sung at their funeral, some it's a song that came out around the time they died, and others it's just the lyrics.

Wisteria blossoms do it for me. My mom had a beautiful wisteria vine next to her front porch and I would sit with her enjoying the fragrance of the blossoms on it.

Now anytime I see or smell a wisteria blossom, it's a beautiful but sad flashback.
