Shameful if they make their parents pay for it... presumably again.
if they want to pay for their own wedding and waste their own money, that's on them.

Parents should never pay for a wedding to start with. If you are grown up enough to get married then you are grown up enough to pay for your own damn wedding. This is part of what is wrong with our society.

You still bring a gift, you dolt.
Open bar and food means you bring a gift whether it's a wedding, birthday party, a flower arrangement to a funeral, or a bottle of wine to a dinner party.
Yep. You'd think a place as concerned with being trashy as the OT would know that.

Why are you worried about what they want to do with their life? If it bothers you so much just don't go to the wedding.

This is customary in many societies and has been for centuries.

I understand that and that was well before every princess decided she needed to burn through 20k-30k of mom and dad's money on her "dream wedding"

Pretty simple. Don't go. He's not asking you to pay for it.

Yes is the answer
These people should go to a JP then spend whatever money the wedding costs on a vacation.
Plus - who get's married on New Years Eve

This will be my second New Year's Eve wedding in a row. I like it in the sense that my plans are already made and it's substantially cheaper than going out to a restaurant or bar to celebrate. However, it does kinda suck missing the NCAA Playoffs.

Is it open bar? If so dont question their decision.
Cheers and bottoms up!
